Amen. I was hoping for a better future in America, not the downfall of our great nation.

Eric, D'ohbama is rapidly backing
himself into a corner. His weakness on N. Korea and Iran may encourage aggression on their part.
If he is forced to act militarily, God help us - it will almost certainly be too little, too late.
On the other hand, his aggression on domestic matters has pushed too fast and he is now in danger of losing his support. His numbers are dropping and many dems don't like some of his latest schemes.
I am optimistic that we can pick up some seats in 2010 and (depending on what happens) may be able to oust him in 2012.

I hope your enthusiasm is right. The media will do everything in it's power for a second term of a democratic congress/president. I am also worried about NK and Iran. The UN is worthless at matters such as this, and Obama is a talk first, actions later. Like you said, his actions are focused on us.

Second coming
Sadly, if there were to be a second coming of Reagan I think we would have heard from him by now. Reagan was on the scene quite a few years before he actually got to be President. I just do not see any standouts on the horizon.
It is scary out there with everything essentially all upside down. But hey, people wanted change, except those of course who simply wanted a black president, and they have gotten it in spades. I'm not sure what's going to happen, but as I have written about myself, we're going to have to force the Republican Party back to being truly conservative and hold them to it. But the people themselves may be resistant about supporting them because of how badly they bungled things last time.

Mitt Romney
Has what it takes to be that leader. Now, I'm not saying he's perfect, and in Massachusetts he took a politically expedient position on abortion. He also ushered in a state mandated health insurance plan. But it allows those with insurance to keep what they have. Far better than practical than Obamacare- which will put the final nail in our coffin. Romney saved or advised countless businesses, including the Salt Lake City olympics. He's articulate, good looking, has a solid family, and I think he understands the situation we are in. He could be a Reagan waiting to happen. Unless someone new, independent and forceful emerges, Mitt is my first choice.

Excellent points. There's a couple that may be on the horizon, but I don't know if they could handle the national spotlight of presidency. This new president has glamorized it into something else. It'd be hard for the next president to follow suit when the media is still worshiping the previous one.

I also like Romney. I just hope he isn't all talk like Obama was if comes to a possible presidency. But I do like Romney and believe he could usher in some better policies and ideas than most.

Well said!
I am angry too. I am also afraid the country will not wake up in time. We are well on our way to becoming a socialist nation. The Democrats are poised to pass the Communist health care program and those upon whom we should be able to rely such as the drug companies, the large hospitals and the doctor's union (AMA) have already discovered how they can make much more money under Obamacare than they can in a competitive free market.
Health care is the end gate. If it passes, everything else falls like dominoes into the ownership, control and domination of the federal government and like Russia, it may take us 70 or more years to get out from under the tyranny.

Good points and too true. We are on the titanic and the healthcare system is the iceberg. We hit that and we're going down.

You reflect exactly how most of us here feel! Anger, frustration - at what is happening to our country. Obama's reaction to the Iranian situation is a disgrace. The first President to NOT come out fully in support of those wanting FREEDOM!

Amazing isn't it. Someone who values personal popularity over other people's freedoms and sacrifices, such as that girl shot down for wanting a little of what we here experience all the time. Obama really does not care about freedom. This is pure proof.

A Not So Quick Thought
As Conservatives, we must face there will never be another Reagan. His leadership and sheer force of personality come once in a lifetime. However, Conservative principles are steadfast and never change.
The rising GOP star, SC Gov. Mark Sanford, took a powder this weekend and the MSM/internet are now portraying him as a flake. His wife didn`t help when she said she didn`t know where he was. Sigh. He was hiking and says he sincerely doesn`t understand what all the fuss was about. The fuss is he has the potential to be a strong Conservative leader and "they" are afraid of him.
prezbo is a master manipulator of PR. Sarah Palin, Susan Boyle and Carrie Prejean were vetted more by the media than the prez, to the detriment of the nation. The MSM is complicit in this disastrous sham of an administration. When the rest of America wakes up and rejects the celebrity culture, true leadership, courage and experience will valued above all else. Great essay, Eric!

I echo Dawn's sentiment about Reagan and will go a step further ... if we depend upon a PERSON and not PRINCIPLE then we are doomed no matter what we say or do as individuals.
Ok, now on to the more important matter --- please know you and Mrs. Eric-To-Be are in my thoughts and prayers. Have a great time at your wedding and forget all this schtuff. CONGRATULATIONS EARLY to you both!!

I did not agree with Romney on some things, but I will say this, if the economy is still teetering in 2011, he maybe the stand out. He has the business sense, unlike most of the administration and also Congress.
North Korea is starting to bother me. And with Iran blacking out the media, that is scary.

Great response. Obama knows how to work the media, and they try to cover up for his mistakes. It's the internet he can't control! Bloggers here find out a truth or something that is seriously wrong and we have the ability to tell the truth to others that it seems the media wants to "ignore." Yeah, another Reagan is wishful thinking, but unlike the republicans we won't give up our ideals and beliefs.

Indeed. We could put this into another context. Say we knew 9/11 was going to happen and how it was going to happen and Bush flew over himself to Osama Bin Ladin to "talk" about not carrying through with his plan. Would Osama even care what Bush would have said? Why the hell would it work on Kim Jong Il? The liberal mind could be the deaths of hundreds to thousands of innocent American lives.
