Misguided Environmentalists

I think you're a little misguided here, or just exaggerating to make the point that you like cheap gas and are a skeptic when it comes to many environmentalist concerns.

Worker ants? Come on. You're painting with a ridiculously broad brush when you imply that before the Western democracies life was so bad. It absolutely was in many places -- and remains so in many places -- but you seem to know enough history to know of the sophisticated medicine, plumbing, sanitation, etc. that existed in many places, Old World and New, East and West, long before the Industrial Revolution.

And to imply that environmentalists want oil to be an artificially controlled supply assumes that it somehow isn't right now, when obviously, if you pay attention to the news, it's supremely, tightly controlled.

Finally, to continue bringing up the standard of living in the United States -- I mean, Sapper, are you really that in the dark? Have you not seen the Human Development Index?

I like a lot of what you write, even when I disagree. But you are way off in left field on this one (say hi to Luke Scott while you're out there!)
