The world at war - whether the West likes it or not

The west doesn't take the war seriously in part because of the way the western press reports on the war. See this one...

Many in the western media who strengthen the hand of the terrorist by demonizing Israel unfairly, should blush that they feign moral outrage over Mel Gibson's antisemitism.

Yes, Mel's antisemetic language should be and clearly was rightly rebuked. So should our dominant western media's sensationalizing Israel's action in S. Lebannon and sentimentalizing deaths of Hezbollah's fighters with photo planted clean toy dolls in pictures and uncritical observation of repeat 'actors' in photos and doctored photos as per my link above clearly demonstrates from several western media outlets who enjoy a level of respectability (increasingly undeserved). Both are clearly, unfairly, dangerously and one-sidedly anti-Israel.

The latest underscoring of your post point Matthew is this big shot political leader of IRAN who is apparently coming to speak at Harvard and other prestigious schools. How is this possible? A man who doesn't just TALK about hating Jews but acts out such in killings and stated political and military intentions. A man who doesn't just TALK about disapproving of homosexual behavior but HANGS them. THIS man is apparently approved to speak at Harvard, and our President is called a 'terrorist' and few seem to question the rationality of our discernment and rhetoric.

Clearly you are correct that the West (even the USA) is clueless in many quarters and in hugely influential ones about the nature of warfare on Islamic extremist, jihadist terrorism and terrorists. When this man comes to speak, should he not be arrested for crimes against humanity? Wouldn't you think women in NOW or Gay and Lesbian groups and others would be literally screaming for such?

I guess one can't scream that Bush is a terrorist and be engaged constructively in this battle at the same time. Perhaps one can, but I haven't heard it yet. I heard the other day we had a military opportunity to destroy a dozen terror leaders but because they were at a funeral for terrorist chums, our rules of engagement forbid it. Hint to terrorists, carry around with you one of those window hanger things you get when following the hearse at funerals. You'll be safe as a bug in a rug OR the ACLU will tie up our concentration, focus and energies hopelessly for months while your apprentices plan another attack.

Matthew, you are so very correct in this critique. Say...post some other goodies for us soon, OK?
