My series on Postman's work would say that a significant part of the "illogical disconnect" may have to do with the extreme visual orientation of most of education and culture today. To that end, many of the artistic fields are visually oriented.

Worth some thought on this point. We have to understand the disease to be able to create therapies to overcome it.
