It's NOT just a state of mind, it's adherence to the original religion.

I'm NOT a Christen so I really don't have a dog in this particular fight, but I DO know some history on the subject.

Before Constantine & Roman Catholicism, Christianity was spread by word of mouth, NOT by fire & sword. There were NO priests to get between a person & god.
A reformed, Protestant Christianity is a RETURN to original values. To a demonstrably less violent Christianity. One with NO "indulgences" to sell by priests.

Islam means literally "SUBMIT" & they mean it.
Reading the Koran & the Hadiths shows Islam is a militant religion from the start.
Peaceful Islam is apostasy, punishable by death. A "reformed" Islam would mean a reversion to earlier ways, to a MORE violent Islam. The Islam practiced before the Turkish Caliphate backed the wrong horse in WWI & WWII. A racist, murderous, xenophobic cult, where psychopaths are elevated to positions of authority & respect. Encouraged to commit atrocities instead of being incarcerated and medicated as we do in the civilized world.

Islam has built in "corrections" to keep it on the path designed for it, the elevation of the psychopaths to power is one, they have NO problem being brutally efficient on ANY question.
This is what finely "won" the Iraqi war for the USA, Al quiada's brutality and over-weening hostility made it enemies throughout Iraq.
Their 7th century methodologies were too much for Other Muslims that had seen a toilet and a shower.

If I were to compare/contrast, I would liken the Koran to the Declaration of Independence. The Hadiths could be likened to our Constitution, as it were. May not make sense, but I see this "religion" more in terms of a governmental system. Very concerning to yours truly given the overall goal of this "system."

Islam + Arab racial pride (two superiority complexes) is what drives the annihilating hatred that Hamas, Abbas and the Palis have for the Jewish State. This regressive, destructive Arab mentality has bdeen shaped by centuries of indoctrination and brainwashing in Islamic and Arab supremacy thinking and will take sometime and much suffering to overcome.

...Sadat to be re-born, he's got a long long wait ahead of him. It has been over a quarter century and stll Arab/Muselim leaders remember the cost of being found guilty of making peace with Isreal.

Even if there were a relatively moderate/sane muselim leader out there, self preservation alone is enough to make sure they don't follow Sadat's example.

Of course you are right. It would take a leader of extraordinary courage like Sadat. Unfortunately such men are rare in history. But don't waste your time telling that to the reckless one in the White House; he will just as easily gambol with Israel's security as he will with our economy with his reckless and irresponsible spending spree.
