Reagan was a "big tent" Republican. No matter how conservative you are, there are others, more conservative, who think you're a liberal.

"Conservatism" is now, and has always been, a matter of degree, not a doctrine.

There must be a leader who espouses what he/she believes, making the stark contrasts to that which the Democratic party (and the Democratic nominee) believes. But, NOT at the expense of those members of the Republican party who are "less conservative" than some would like.

Republicans are already the minority party, and you want to get rid of vast numbers of them?

That's just plain silly.

Be conservative and run as a conservative, and you will win.

Conservatism works every time it's tried.
