Why the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) is not Republican

Republican Liberty Caucus not Republican
Mr. Iannucci should learn his history. Ronald Reagan's first inaugural address was a direct repudiation of Abraham Lincoln's contention that it was the Union that created and antedated the states. Reagan explicitly stated that the states created the federal government.
The fact is that parties have changed over their lifetimes and there can be no doubt that Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, John C. Calhoun and Grover Cleveland are screaming in their graves over what the Democratic Party has become.
Robert Taft, Mr. Republican during most of the New Deal, was opposed to American interventionism and vehemently opposed the establishment of the CIA.
It must never be a question of what is good for the Republican Party. It must be a what is good for the country and foreign adventures are sapping this country dry.
And, oh yes, lest Mr. Iannucci forget, if he ever knew, after the attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut, Ronald Reagan withdrew our troops despite urging by the military to strike back. For that National Review congratulated him for his wisdom.
Neo-Prohibitionism over drugs is turning this country into a land of convicts, and just like the original Prohibition was a bonanza for organized crime, so is this. Everyone should be free to destroy himself with alcohol, sex, drugs and gambling; just don’t try to turn around and force me to subsidize the disasters that result.
Mr. Iannucci, I am in the Republican Liberty Caucus and I can assure you, we are not going away. We are the GOP's future, if the country and the GOP has one.
