Comment on: Why The republicans Lost

WHY THE REPUBLICANS LOST

Sorry . . . You couldn't be more wrong!

Economy: the economy was doing quite well up until this financial crisis hit. Those responsible for this crisis are all democrats beginning with FDR, then Johnson, Carter, Clinton. And when PRESIDENT Bush came to office, within the first year he and his administration saw disaster ebbing from Freddie and Fannie, and tried to get legislation through. But with a Senate that actually gives more power to the minority (unless you have 60 seats), that legislation did not go through. Again in 2003, 2005, and 2006, Republicans (McCain, Dole, and a few others) tried to get legislation passed again to put a stop to what Freddie and Fannie were doing with mortgages, but were halted by Barney Franks, Chris Dodd, and Chuck Schumer, not to mention a few idiot republicans.

So, as hard as you try, the republicans were NOT responsible for this mess, and it is very well documented.

Sorry . . . You couldn't be more wrong!

Economy (cont'd.)

Putting the financial crisis aside for a moment, the entity that will have the most impact on individuals is the politics in their own state.

Look at California: Dem legislature for years. True, a republican governor, but in name only. He is now pushing through tax increases to get their state out of bankruptcy. With the laws enacted by the legislature, they have and continue to drive business out of the state.

Look at Michigan: Dem rule once again. Dem legislation! Higher taxes!

All you have to do is look at state government and what they impose on their own citizens, and if it is higher taxes, it pretty much negates the lower federal taxes, with the exception of capital gains, which affects small businesses NEGATIVELY!

Sorry . . . You couldn't be more wrong!

IRAQ WAR:

YOU ARE WRONG! All of the Iraqi documents that have been brought out of that country say otherwwise. Saddam had a significant relationship with al-Qaeda. You obviously don't know much about foreign policy, and until you do, you should probably leave dealing with it to the grown ups.

Iraq has been at war with us for decades. Under the U.N. installation of the "no-fly" zones that we patrolled, Saddam was constantly firing upon our planes. That is an act of war! We could have gone in at any time with those actions.

Have you been paying attention to what is happening on the ground in Iraq? Obviously not! Most of who we are still fighting is al-Qaeda.

I don't care how long we keep troops there as long as conditions on the ground warrant it. Any sane military person would say the same thing.

BTW, how long have we been in Germany? How long have we been in South Korea? How long have we been in Bosnia? (Clinton said we would be there for only a year!) Read this: http://www.brookings.edu/articles/1998/12balkans_daalder.a spx

You probably need to talk with the military that has been on the ground in Iraq . . . not just the Iraq veterans opposing the war, ALL OF THEM! You will here an entirely different story than the one you are telling; AND I KNOW!

SIGNING OUT!!!!

Having Served...

Two tours in Vietnam and fought in Desert storm I think I have some insight into the conduct of the war and those involved.

You are never going to win the hearts and minds of the muslim people. They hate our guts. You may meet people that smile and shake your hand by day, but at night they would gleefully cut your throat.

A few months ago Bush even admitted that "Perhaps the intelligence on Iraq had been faulty when it came to going to war."

The conservatives are operating on the same idea as we did in Iraq. "We can't let those men have died in vain, so we must send more men to die to make it worthwhile." A foolish concept! We finally admitted defeat in Vietnam and now over 30 years later it doesn't matter. In a few years Iraq will just be a bad memory. Within a year after the last US soldier leaving Iraq some Iraqi general will seize power or some mullah will. Either way..Islam is not compatible with democracy. The very word "Islam" means "submit!"

Economy: It was the Republicans that pushed through deregulation sweetheart deals for their CEO pals during the period when the Republicans had a majority! That is well documented.

The Last months

of the Bush administration will be marked by his cronies making as many deals as they can for their CEO pals and temselves. And a flurry of evidence destruction to hide the crininal acts of this administration.

Bottom line is....Obama defeated McCain by almost 7 million votes. The youth vote counted more than ever this time around. In the next election of 2012 another 4 to 6 million young people will have reached voting age. The vast majority of those will again vote Democrat.

Unless the Republican party gets rid of the old guard and any connected with the old guard (this now includes Palin) they will never win an election until long after 2020.

Clean up your party, shed CEO affiliations, don't lean so heavily of the christian right and get some honest people into leadership positions. Then you may win again.

The republicans had the perfect chance during the 1st Bush administration. Republican president with the houses dominated by Repubs. They totally blew it. Became arrogant with power and today's problems are a result of their arrogance.

Republicans lost trying to out-liberal..

the likes of Obama (notice how he has all of these Czars around him). The question is: until the nation elected Democrat control in the House, the Dow was 13000, unemployment was 5%, and gasoline was $2.00. With "the most open Congress in history" (so said Nancy) not only couldn't they get budgets passed, they allowed the economy to crash due to actions by the GSE's led by Democrats like Franklin Raines, James Johnson, and Jamie Gorelick. The actions by Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, and Maxine Waters would have gotten any Republican censured and probably not re-elected, but I see all of their shining faces still there.

If you think that you are worse off right now, listen to Commissar BO as he tells you that it will get worse before it gets better. And he intends to adopt the economic programs of FDR which will socialize the nation, extending the recession into a depression and extending it for years.

Your rant proves that the only thing dumber than a lifelong Democrat is an ex-Republican.
