What's Happening Within the Family Unit?

Discipline

We are the parents of four wonderful children, grandparents of nine fantastic young men and women and great-grandparents of 2 darling girls.

My husband and I have NEVER stuck any of our children in anger.

If a parent has to hit, they have lost control.

I applauded you for the success you and your husband are having with your family. You are exceptional. I may not have been clear enough in the point I was trying to make. There is no circumstance I can think of, other than abuse and neglect, where it is a good idea to relinquish parental responsibilities and rights. The child I referenced has behavioral problems. Even if his child has a mental incapacity or illness, it’s never a good idea for a parent to push their responsibility for their children off on society. If the root of this child’s behavior is other than mental, parents should have full latitude in employing whatever disciplinary method they deem necessary to remedy disciplinary problems. The parent lost control in relinquishing their responsibility towards their child.
