AMERICA'S GRIEF OBSERVED

A great reminder of overlooked hardships that are the bedrock of what we, well, once had, and may still if we will just act.

I had never considered or even imagined that aspect of those immigrants. One thing I did realize,when they landed here, they became Americans through and through. Not Italian-Americans, or African-Americans, just Americans. They left their origins behind, not forgetting but assimilating wilfully. No hyphenated adjectives, no clinging to language or custom, just becoming American.

Great and touching reminder, sir.
