True Conservatives Have a New Leader!

It's official -- Fred Thompson has withdrawn from the race. He's refusing, so far, to endorse anyone and if he's going to endorse McCain, as some think, then I hope he'll remain uncommitted until at least the convention. He only has a handful of delegates to award, anyway.

Huckabee's run may be nearing an end, as well. He had a good run but his funds are drying up. His big mouth may be as responsible for that as finishing behind the leader(s). It seems everytime Huckabee opens his mouth these days, he makes everyone cringe at the prospect of what he'll say now.

Ever so slowly, the field is narrowing to just Giuliani, Romney, and McCain. Now the real fun begins. McCain will remain the darling of the news media but his fortunes at the polls are about to change.

G-d knows Fred was my guy but part of political strength and talent is making headway NOW! Fred just didn't do it. I sure Hope the Huckster gets out, but I fear he won't.
