Isn't the real issue whether a taxi driver can refuse a fare for any reason? Put yourself in the driver's seat. You have a policy against picking up drunks: they're incontinent and abusive, you have trouble collecting your fare from them, and sometimes they don't even know their destination. Should you be compelled to take them?

Some drivers won't take credit cards; should we use the power of the government to force them to do it?

This driver makes his stand on religious grounds, however silly they seem to us. I say it's his privilege. The blind man can tell the cab company he has a service dog and request a cabbie that will take him.
