Is Ron Paul really so crazy?

Great Article

Great article. I used to agree with Phil but have done some reading and now think otherwise. I wish more conservatives would wise up to Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is authentic

I happened to stumble upon Ron Paul in my quest for a candidate who was willing to address our looming sinkhole of fiscal and monetary irresponsibility. It was refreshing to find a candidate who not only grasps the facts of our economic weakness, but has solutions. Ron Paul is the most prolific writer and thinker of the candidates, by far. See his campaign website for links to his articles and speeches.

In September of 2002, Ron Paul read into the congressional record 35 'Questions that Won't be Asked about Iraq' (http://www.house.gov/paul/congrec/congrec2002/cr091002.htm). When I read these, I knew that Ron Paul had a grip on the issues, and that our reasons for invading Iraq were specious at best. These, along with more current analysis such as the TownHall.com video linked in this article, convinced me that we are pursuing folly in the Middle East. I was previously in favor of the war.

Our federal government has been hijacked by corporate statists on both sides of the aisle. Vote for him or not, but please don't do so in an uninformed way. At least think about how our government disregards the wishes of the people, a prime example of this being with regard to illegal immigration. Believe it or not, it all fits together once you follow the money and connect the dots. Other candidates have co-opted planks of his campaign, so beware of imitators. Examine their records and their connections.

I think Ron Paul is the best hope for America at this time. He is the Thomas Jefferson of our day.

Yes, he is crazy

Ron Paul is a wacko.

Very Naive

"For example, who is it that "radicalized" Islam to fight against the Russians? We did! We created Osama Bin Laden."

Jason - that is a very naive statement! Who radicalized Islam when the Barbary Pirates were attacking our ships in the late 1700's? Who radicalized Islam in the 1500's when they were hell bent on conquering Europe?

Read the Koran. What radicalized Islam....what created Bin Laden is written in the pages of the Koran.

Blaming the last 75 years of US foreign policy for the radicalization of Islam ignores HUNDREDS of years of documentable history!

LL

Lady Logician

Well if the Koran created radical Islam that is news to me. Do those who read "Mien Kampf" automatically become Nazi's?

Would it be fair to say those who read the Old Testament become Radical Christians? As much of what is preached in the Old testament is indeed of extreme nature.

It is men who create violence or radicalism by their actions not their words. History has shown that books should not be burned and Religions should not be oppressed. It is time we became the enlightened that Jesus prophetically described us as. It is Naive to believe those who profess to know more than Jesus, when in fact they denounce him with their own violent actions. It is us who must look at the rulers actions and now denounce them for those actions. For it is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

Ron Paul is the only person running who remembers and truly practices this ancient, yet truly magnificent rule. If you profess your religion over your politician than you must also support leaving Iraq.

Lady Logician, you are naive.

It is naive to pin the blame solely on all of Islam for our foolish and ill advised actions in radicalizing a faction of them that is now haunting us terribly. We have some owning up to do. Your point in saying there has been hundreds of years of history demonstrating this tendency says to me that we all the more bear some responsibility for stirring the pot. The sooner we confess our folly and in some manner apologize and make restitution to the world the sooner matters can improve for everyone. This is a valid alternative and if there must be a war it must be for defence only. To pre-emptively attack them will turn the whole world against us. They are already fed up with the destabilization we have caused in the world. I travel abroad frequently and all people in the USA would do well to try and see how others view what we are doing.
