I think you are right that there was a tipping point. A few conservatives were anti-Bush from day 1, but I think that had more to do with his father than with him. Sure, some of the folks who are criticizing him now are just following the crowd. But that does not mean that everyone who changed their mind on him is turning on him just because his poll numbers are down (in fact, that's why his poll numbers are down).
