If overseas the terrorists will be in bad shape. If here then the've regrouped. The response will be half hearted and filled with talking to the Euro trash. Obambi will find out that the Euro trash really want us to kill all the terrorists. The terrorists will strike again. The country will wake up and realize that this never happened under W. Putin will flex his muscles along the pipeline. The Euros will make c**p their pants and long for W. Serve them right.

We just follow the Gunny's rules here and wait. Pallin/Jindal sounds fine to me. Any real conservative does. Memo to the Republican Party run a real conservative!

The good news. Mercy could this be the end of little Hillary? Yes! They might put her on the court where she'll gather dust. Or put her in the cabinet where she'll go home after four years. Also this is the end of Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson. Plus we will have four yars of making fun of this guy. He is definitely ripe for it. And Gunny like you I'm waiting for when the people who didn't pay their mortgages find out Obambi can't save them. Tsk, tsk. Also AFTER they get their little check in the mail and it's gone in a week and they find out they're still poor. Well maybe not poor. They will have some quarters, nickles and dimes left. I woke up this morning with the same feeling I had after my mom died. First thought then: "Mom is dead" First thought today "Obama is President" and the same feeling of loss, hopelessness and sadness settled into my spirit.

I already pointed out significant differences between the two groups. So it appears that what you see as an albatross is merely a hallucination.

But the more important point of you hating all who are different is what hangs around your neck. The hypocrisy is that if the majority of the people had elected McCain, you would be shouting "we the people." But when you are not in the majority, you want to picture yourself as the object of future persecution from Obama and thus rejecting others from their right to say "we the people."

As for your question, try including those who fell into the category of living in poverty during Bush's tenure as President. That number went up for the first 6 years of Bush's presidency. Or try those who are either in deep debt or forgo medical testing and procedures because of a lack of or medical insurance or having inadequate coverage. Try the working poor who work basic jobs but who do not make enough money to escape poverty.

See, opportunity is around for some who are educated or whose families have money or who have connections. Some can be entrepreneurs and work their way out. But not all have that ability.

And why the insulting tone? Why the speaking down? This is partially what lost the election for the democrats. Some of the republicans I know see attitudes like yours or Gunny's and quit listening because they don't want any association with that kind of attitude.

Maybe the bigger problem in this country is we have too many over educated people like you who have no common sense and haven't had to work for anything.

Like I said before, the left has spewed a lot of hate towards the right and Bush. For us, it is utter hypocrisy because of our roots in King and Gandhi.

As for responsibility for the poor, I believe you have to take it on a case by case situation. Our current economic system, that is run by the private sector, cuts people out of opportunity. Since the poor are as much citizens of the country as the rich, the gov't's job is to represent them just like they represent the rich.

As for the rest of us, we have to realize that unless we all live on self-sustaining farms where we neither buy nor sell, we live in an interdependent society. When we do well, part is due to us and part is due to society.

For those who are poor, there are a variety of reasons why that can be the case. The question is, should the gov't completely ignore the plight of the poor?

I do disagree with the overgeneralizations of why people do not have an education or do not have a job. My own experience tells me that there are a variety of stories of poverty implying that there are many causes. Since I teach in a college, to hear someone say that the only reason why someone does not have a college education is laziness implies that everyone can afford it and that everyone has the capability to succeed in college. I can say from the students I have seen that neither factor is true.

And btw, opportunity is limited especially in the inner cities where the manufacturing jobs have left.

Lastly, along the same lines as what I said to Caday5. I am of two minds in regards to an Obama presidency. For the sake of the Country, I hope he governs close to the center as his rhetoric indicates. That is my high-minded view. For my desire for vengence, I hope to God that he governs exactly the way his record shows. If he governs towards the center, the Country and it's founding principles will remain intact, but we risk another Obama term. If he governs towards his media ignored ideology, he will be kicked out in 4 years, but the damage to the Country will be immense.

Actually, I'm a white collar security professional and wear a suit to work. One of my relatives is a CEO earning about 2 million a year. He works 16-18 hours a day 6-7 days a week.

When you all you use for your definition of socialism and communism is Nazism and totalitarian Bolshevism, you can get a skewed look. THere are too many examples of other types of socialism and communism. In addition, there were significant differences between Nazi Germany and Communist Soviet Union and what made both countries notorious was totalitarianism, not socialism or communism. Again, we have had non-authoritarianism examples of both.

The advantage that some have when only referring to socialism and communism is that both caused world trauma and there is nothing like trauma that causes overgeneralizations. And overgeneralizations prevent us from making distinctions.
