The Right Kind of Hero

LowDoCen. Oscars have no value...

You are to be comoplimented.

Few have the courage to give voice to the truth we all know, i.e., "The Academy Aweards" are lacking in respectabilty.

Only Gran Torino possessed any constructive values. Academy members have no understanding of Clint's gift for creating a 116-minute interlude of social perspective and suspenseful analysis of colliding mentalities, souls and ethnic conflicts.

Long ago i began to present my "Grand Duke" and "Great Dutch" awards. These are small replicas of John "The Duke" Wayne, and "Dutch" Reagan.

Of course, no one knows of my perspicacity, discernment and comprehensive brilliance.

Once again, however, i will be sending both statuettes to his eminence, Dirty Harry.

In another life, when we were oriented toward Monterey, we were pleased to wander through the Hog's Breath Inn on Fifth in downtown Carmel. We preferred the food at a family French restaurant a bloack away, but the Mayor Eastwood's establishment was obligatory.

Now Clint owns The Mission in lower Carmel near Point Lobo. From most of the 30 or so rooms you have views of the captivatig waves. Sheep graze just outside the front door.

The Prime Rib reputedly is award winning. We hope to test that proffer very soon. Carmel is special if you have a philosophical nature and can abide horrendous crowds. Also, we love the Carmel Basilica. Though we are not Catholic and acknowledge our abhorrence of recent church history, we love this inspiring and restful creation of Father Junipero Serra.

Long live The King!
