He Clunked His Corvette?

Hi Dawndawn
I'm first!!! And I'm trying now to get around to a couple of blogs a day to start.
The real culprit behind that cash for clunkers is that new Greenie Czar avowed Communist, twice imprisoned Van Jones, who was appointed by Oman and has to answer to nobody. How does this happen???
How does a guy like this pass the FBI security test? A twice convicted felon? EXcuse me, but Obummer is choosing these czar right and left who are not accountable to anyone, we don't know what kind of money they are making and we have no idea what their plans are.
Had to vent about that before I said anything about those wonderful old clunkers. XRay had a 57 Chevy that was fantastic but he blew the motor up. Dumb a$s to say the least
Ron owned a corvette, I got to date someone with a corvette and loved the car, but the guy stunk with no personality. The car had personality but not him.
I used to drive all my dad's Olds. those were fun because they were huge and smooth. You could take them up to 120 mph and never realize you were going that fast. Ah the good ole days. Now we're supposed to drive little green boxes that everyone can run over on the road. And how does a guy who is over 5'6" or woman for that matter fit into one of these little "savings" vehicles? I'm 5'8" and I'd never fit my legs in one of them since most of my height is my legs.
But who cares about the public. If we complain we're not really representative of true Americans according to Specter so we just go round and round on this merry go round of idiocy. Anyone like to slap the crap out of the people who voted for this moron??

Hey, Peppermint!
Welcome back! Your wit and wisdom have been missed! We watched Glenn Beck and his espose of Van Jones! Talk about spitting bullets! To be frank, he fits that stereotype perfectly. "Everybody is a czar ...." Remember Sly and the Family Stone? Now the zebra ghetto carnival crib wants to be in charge of interrogations instead of the CIA! How can prezboy continue to get away with actions like these?
Cannot believe a real true blue, red blooded American male could turn in a Corvette to be clunked! I can only imagine what Ron is thinking about the senseless waste of a beautiful car, especially since he owned one. Stuart is beside himself that the government is destroying perfectly good cars for this kind of scam. I believe the dealers have not been paid because there is no money to pay them.
Love how you drove your dad`s Olds at 120 mph! You are so right, the ride in those heavy cars was smooth! My mom had a 64 Tbird, white with red rolled interior. I took it without permission to a dance, had fun, headed home and missed the exit. Busted driving over 90 mph on the Evergreen Floating Bridge. I`m not driving at all these days! Taxi!
And yeah! I would like to slap the crap outta those tools who voted for prezboy and have sent the nation into despair. The line is getting longer each day!

Can we cash in politicians for new ones?
I'd like to cash our entire administration and start anew.
I definitely would not trade a classic corvette for any new "green" car. The gas mileage would be the only reason.
We had a 1990 Buick LaSabre for years, around 199,00 miles and lots of wear and tear. That car and I had many ordeals, as my friends and I took it airborne on a country road.
Nothing wrong with the old cars, except to the hippies who believe in global warming. Idiots.

Is what we got with this--the clunkers are the commieczars who are looking around licking their chops. Have you noticed the so called "media" in this country never mentioned the computers used at car dealers in this program "became" property of the government?? (thank you Glenn Beck!!!)

Yes, We Can! But it is doubtful we could get much $$$ for any one of them! I read that the $4500 cash rebate for the clunkers is subject to state taxes. A nasty little surprise for those who participated. I truly believe there is no money to pay the car dealers. "Hope" the checks eventually clear!
My Uncle Gene always drove Buicks. Great cars. You sound like a typical American male, driving so fast you go airborne and have lived to tell about it! Thanks for your visit, Eric!

How Abour Real Recycling??
It occurred to me that we are scrapping perfectly good cars, and it would be nice to give these cars to folks hit by the recession, many of whom may need a way to get to a job or an interview. The idea of trying to get all the clunkers off the road to make the earth somehow greener is tomfoolery at best. Some of these cars got 25 MPG. So you trade for one that gets like 33. Great. But then what does it cost over the life of the new car to scrap the car, pay the all the new people employed in this "program" and justify how this is saving the planet?
People like me only BUY clunkers. That's what I can afford. I look for old cars driven by seniors who but like 22k on the car in 8 years. The insurance, inspection and taxes are like nothing compared to buying a "green" car. I'll do it my way thanks. I would have gladly taken one of these clunkers so the government could save money "recycling" it. And yes, Van Jones is a radical communist. That's the "green-jobs czar". God help us.

Corvette Crush
Many years ago I was the Fleet Manager for a dealership that at the time was the largest Corvette dealer in California. A Corvette customer differs in that he/she knows every detail of the car before he/she buys it. They taught me things about the car! None that I knew would ever imagine the car-love of their life being crushed.
In the car business today the deal is made and the car delivered to the customer. Before that customer turns the new car into the driveway at home the dealer has been paid, dealer expenses have been paid and the bank has set up the loan. The salesman recieves his or her commission when the car is paid for. In the electronic environment of today that is in place well before payday. With cash for clunkers, there are salesman, already hurting from the recession in car sales, waiting to get paid.

Van Jones and his idea of hoopties for hybrids was the catalyst for cash for clunkers, blessed by the prez. Big grins, toothy smiles. Totally in over their heads and out of their minds.
I believe it will be a while before the used car business recovers after this ridiculous act of domestic terrorism on the car industry but it will recover! Americans are too resourceful, level headed and independent. We may be in a rough patch now, but we will soon prevail! Thanks for coming by and for your comments, David!

Hi, Third Eye!
Such a sad, sorry ending for this beautiful car, the Corvette. My husband said the chassis alone of this car could have been sold for a lot more than $4500! What guy, with some extra money and had been given the opportunity, would not have bought this Corvette to restore and drive? What has happened to our society to buy into this sham of destroying viable cars to only "gain" major car payments and tax liability? The error of hopenchange, Third Eye! Thanks for coming by!

Cash for clunkers was a joke
My wife and I have been contemplating getting her a new mini van. She currently drives an SUV and as our son gets bigger, his wheelchair is becoming a bigger issue. We had looked at mini vans back in February and there were good deals to be had, but the finances did add up for us at tha time. However, we could have gotten a Dodge Carivan for about $22,000.00 before our trade. After the trade it would have been about $17,000.00. We looked again during cash for clunckers. The Caravan was now $28,995.00 before trade. Funny that we could have gotten a better deal before the government stuck it's nose in..

I can't drive because of my affinity for passing out. There is nothing cooler! I think it's best for everyone that I stay off the road, at least until they can invent a travelling styrofoam cup. I talk about this briefly in my latest blog with the idea coming from Van Jones, but really just a way to funnel money from taxpayers and into the pockets of someone else. I found it humorous that most of the vehicles bought in this program were foreign. I'm sure Obama went "DOH!" after the results from that. I'm also expecting many autodealers to get screwed someway, somehow. "Well you didn't have item #24 legible enough, so you were denied your $200,000".

To Clunk or not to Clunk
...that was the question. Cash 4 Clnkrs took the lives of so many still useful economically reachable used cars off the road. Kids wanting a first car were temporarily unable to find reasonably any priced as the old 5 hundred to 1 thousand dollar beaters were now jacked up to, 2500, 3500 or $4500.00. And now there are fewer of them available as those traded for new models have been euthanized, sent to the the mechanical bone crusher and eaten by JAWS.
I swear dawndawn that was the funniest, choc full o' truism and nostalgic piece of writin I've gazed upon yet. My first car was a Mustang and I do remember -- lovingly -- every last detail. The way the metal-flake paint sparkled when even the slightest glint of direct sunlight refracted across the surface. The rich American naugahyde. The throaty air sucking sound of the four barrel Carter carburetor when ya'd tromp down on the throttle. And there's more, oh yeah, so much more...

Here is an idea to find out whether we true conservatives are really ready to take the reins. Let’s begin e-mailing a list of what the people want for "Health Care Reform". After all The Great Oz and his Munchkins keep lying and saying no one had provided alternatives. Okay so let's "pony up" and provide some. Here is part of my list;
1. NO PUBLIC OPTION and NO TRIGGERS FOR A PUBLIC OPTION (its number one for a reason)
2. Tort reform that favors doctors and patients, not trial lawyers.
3. Specific language stating that Illegal Aliens will be EXCLUDED from this and requirements to show proof of U.S. Citizenship (Driver's Licenses and State issued ID's won't work) for medical insurance.
4. Transferability of coverage and less government regulation over what the insurance companies can put together.
5. No additional language for pork projects, this is supposed to be about health care reform-not a senator or representative slipping something in for their pet project or group (like Obama and ACORN) or trying to slip something in to gum up the process.
Please, please spread the word and send your list. I would suggest e-mailing your Rep. and Senator, but most of them don't really give a RA what we want.
