No need
to go to the darkside yet, I just spent the day with my 85 year old aunt who has been a Democrat forever. Who is she voting for? John Mac, socialism is a threat many of the older generations understand very intimately and are mostly unwilling to support.
A new paradigm may be happening, instead of an October Surprise we may get a November Surprise, with a landslide - not for the Obamanite!
if it happens though, keep your powder dry, lock & load, it may get dirty out here.
BTW, good post

Wonderful post.
I agree with Boaz, that the November surprise might just be how many Democrats are not voting for Obama.
The polls do get you down, but why do we still believe in them when they have gotten it wrong since 2000,??? except for 2006, unfortunately. We must not have a repeat of that, by sitting out the vote.
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I'm glad I found yours, and I will be back.

I do worry that even if McCain wins, our country will continue to move toward socialism...the continued creation of government programs will be the death of us.

Thanks Sandra....I am hoping these polls are wrong too....And I certainly will not be sitting out the vote. In fact, I have already voted. But the threat goes beyond this election. We need to halt this liberal expansion immediately...because liberal programs breed more liberal voters. I will be watching and hoping along with both of you on election night.

the problem we now face is that about 40% of the electorate pay no income taxes. With Obama's plan to give money from other people to to these folks, we will be increasing those numbers. When the total reaches over 50% we might be past the point of no return toward socialism. A built in base of 50% of the electorate might negate the possibility of reversing socialistic policies. At that point, the Canadians will have no place to go for health care they have to stand in line for in their own country because we'll all be standing in line here.

I agree that if 50% of the electorate is receiving government aid that we would be in HUGE trouble...and we are moving rapidly toward that point. HOWEVER, there is still hope because 40% of Americans, as you have cited, don't pay income taxes. This does not mean, however, that they are all on government assistance. A good percentage of those people are retired. Retired people may draw from Social Security but that does not mean they will go out and vote for those who support large social programs. In all honesty, We are further away from that 50% point than some of us fear....The scary thing is, we don't need it to get that high for socialism to take hold. The reason I say this is that a large number of people who do not receive government aid still support programs that give lots of aid. People need to realize that the best way to bring people up from poverty is well-regulated and fair CAPITALISM.
