Just so you know
I have 3 of the "fall between the cracks" children. They've gone without health insurance for nearly a year. Our annual income falls $1200 over the limit. That is equal to $100 per month. I do not know anywhere (and believe me I've searched high and low) to find health coverage for 3 children at or near $100 per month. Personally for me and my family, the All Kids Act is a GODSEND. I often find myself keeping my children from doing things that other kids do like riding a bike or playing on the slip n slide. I have to explain to my children that if they fall and get hurt, I can't afford to take them to the emergency room. My husband works and I work 2 jobs. Additionally, my children are 11, 8, and 2. They still require a great deal of my time in between my 2 jobs. We live very modestly with just what we need. Still, there isn't enough money for health insurance for any of us. Neither of our jobs offers health insurance to their employees or families. So what should people like us do? I'm okay with living without health insurance for myself. If it leads me into an early grave then so be it. My children, however, deserve the chance to live a normal and healthy life. This Act will provide them a better opportunity for doing just that. I've taught my kids to brush. They know right from wrong. They are aware of every day dangers but that doesn't help when the virus' go around, flu season, allergy season, strep breaks out at school. There are so many factors that lead us parents to the ER with our children. It's not do to "absent" parents mooching off of the welfare system. Some of us really are hard working people who do the very best we can. We take the time to give love and attention to our children. We are there when they need us the most making sure they have all that they need. Yet we are human and we cannot prevent every illness nor every accident. Trust me when I say that I never want to see my children hurt or sick. Unfortunately, however, there are times when it is simply out of my control. When those times present themselves, the All Kids Act will be my saving grace. In 1999 my husband now deceased spent 3 days in the hospital. He died on the 3rd day. We had no insurance. His medical bills exceeded $55,000. I was 30, widowed, single parent of a 2 year old and 9 month old, and I owed more in medical than all my belongings were worth. How are we as Americans supposed to survive such devastation? He worked in construction. There was no option for insurance. It happens every day to hard working people. Please don't let society stereo-type us all as cheap moochers trying to get ahead by stealing from the government. It really isn't like that at all.

..dmorgan86, if this is your situation (which I doubt for obvious reasons) let me comfort you by stating the world has made it this far without the "all kids act" and will continue to do so.
It is not the federal government's responsibility to interfere in Her Citizen's "healthcare."
