Comment on: The Truth About Big Oil and Global Warming

The Formula, How BIG OIL and OPEC are one in the same.

Wierd, been known for longer than 1980!

Um, wierd, cause I think we all knew this technology existed, it is just too expensive to compete against $30 or less OIL. Because it requires a huge expenditure to create the facilities to do this, and the price volatility of OIL, even when it does hit $30 or more per barrel, by the time you build a facility oil could be $20 per barrel.

Now with oil over $100 per barrel and no likely chance it will hit $30 per barrel or less in the forseeable future, there actually already are plans to build these coal gassification plants. We also have massive amount of shale oil, but until about a year ago, the cost of extraction was around $90 per barrel, again requiring massive upfront costs making a switch to it not likely unless oil topped $100 per barrel and was likely to remain there for a decade. Now I hear they have the cost down to around $35 per barrel, and the only thing in the way is congress.

There is no conspiracy here.

Congress is the problem. Called Greed

Ah but Congress is in the pocket of Big Oil and others that will not allow its use.

The USA has more oil than the rste of the world, along with enough natural gas to feed our needs for 150 or so years. But Congress always gets in the way.
