HUH??????
WOW!!!! Where do I begin with this one??? Hmmm....lets see.....
Ok First, I am a Member of teh Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) and I have been my entire life. My parents have always been member and their parents before them and so on and so forth.....NEVER in my life has the practice or plural marriage been taught to me or any of them. I know I know, you said that if a Mormon says that than they must be a liberal Mormon and that their church leader teach that etc etc etc but that is the biggest load of garbage I have ever heard. I practice ALL of my beliefs and so do my family members. We believe in all of our church doctorine (which INCLUDES the Bible) and we STILL dont believe in plural marriage. We have a general conference with our church leaders 2 times a year and they never teach that. I used to get upset when I encountered people like you but now I just feel sorry for you all. LEt me explain why.
I have met with several ministers of several different religions on several different occasions and have drawn some conclusions.
#1- they all claim that Mormons are like blind sheep that go where ever they are told by church officials. That is simply not true and I can give you multiple examples to prove it.
#2- They all claim that they are "concerned for teh welfare of our souls" etc etc etc but the way I have been treated time and time again by the same people who claim those things proves that they dont mean it. I have been treated horribly by these ministers and I have heard the things they teach their church members and it is NOT loving things.
#3- the majority of these people have NEVER been to a Mormon church service. THey have NO IDEA what we teach in our sunday school classes or during our main meetings. Yet they seem to be so passionate about putting our beliefs down.
#4- Isnt it ironic that they teach and believe that Mormons are like blind sheep who never go against what the church leaders tell them but if you look at it on the flip side.....these "born again Christians" just automatically believe what ever there preachers tell them about the Mormons without even asking a Mormon or at least going to a meeting to see for themselves. They preach about Mormons from their pulpits and they have Mormon seminars and they suggest books to read to "educate" members of their flock on "what mormons really believe" but does anyone ever go to the source to find out??? I wouldnt go to a honda dealership to ask about a ford. WHy should religion be any different??? They tell their members that we will decieve them if they come to one of our meetings so dont take the risk or dont read our doctorine because it will decieve you. Thats a bunch of garbage but its the mormons who blindly fallow church officials???? Whatever.......
#5- By their fruits ye shall know them....lets think about that for a second. An orange tree produces oranges so therefore it must be an orange tree. A person who fallows Jesus Christ and his example is therfore a Christian (including baptism, good deeds, loving thy God and thy neighbor). SO on the one hand we have the Mormons who spen millions of dollars ever year to provide relief around the world to those in need, they help those around them in need, they never have "sermons" or activities that preach against anyone elses religion. On the other hand you have these "born again christians" who dont claim devine authority of any kind but get their authority from a school, instead of preaching messages of love and tolerence and peace they preach messages and sponsor activities that are full of negativity and intolerance and are flat our lies. Jesus was the prince of peace so in my opinion anyone who preaches messages that dont advocate peace are NOT Christian. IF you havent visited a mormon service and you havent talked to a mormon clergy than you are fallowing your religion like a blind sheep and just taking their word and reading their books and not going to the source. Oh and by the way, I thought the joke was funny.Thats right, a Mormon laughed at that joke. I guess I just find misconceptions funny.
