Piling On Palin

Journalists Are In Denial

Journalists see that the McCain campaign is reluctant to allow unfettered press access to Sarah Palin and they assume that means something about Palin. They don't realize that the press "blackout" means nothing about Palin and everything about the press. The press doesn't deserve to have unfettered access to Palin (or indeed anyone with whom they disagree) because they have proven time and again that they don't know how to behave in a civil manner. Shouting irrelevent, "gotcha" questions, pushing and shoving like a pack of jackals, the press has no sembalance of professionalism. Ordinary Americans like myself have no opportunity to ask questions of national leaders. We depend on the press to ask questions on our behalf. But they don't take that responsibility seriously at all. Instead they attempt to embarass or entrap politicians so they can win points with their fellow media elites. Watching the antics of the press is like watching seventh graders giving the substitute teacher a hard time for the amusement of their peers. The press shouldn't be allowed access to Palin or any other candidate until they prove they can act like responsible adults instead of adolescents
