Rationalization --> justification.
"The Messiah, in order to have been truly the Messiah must have legitimately descended from the Kings of Israel according to all sound Bible doctrine. If polygamy is not legitimate then Jesus was illegitimate and not the Messiah..."
My, my. Rationalizations are being used at a rapid rate here. Your point seems to be Jesus legitimacy depends (among other things of course) upon his descending from legitimate Kings of Israel. And – here is the leap where I think you error – A King’s legitimacy depended upon the acceptance (by God?) of the King’s actions, one of those actions being polygamy. Wouldn’t you then, by applying this same logic, find it permissible to commit adultery (Bathsheba) and murder (Uriah, her husband), both actions of a polygamist King?
It would be helpful to state your positions in non-specifics, and then apply it. For example:
If a King in Jesus lineage committed an act, that act is approved of by God for Jesus to be legitimate. (or any widening or narrowing of the point that you wish)
Now apply that principle to multiple situations and see if it passes muster. Otherwise, you can run into conundrums like: Ruth is in Jesus lineage and Ruth was a Moabite, a descendant of Moab, the incestuous child of Lot and his daughter (Gen.19:37). Is that link in Jesus lineage now illegitimate or, for the sake of your reasoning, do you now approve of incest?
