Mexican Blood is On Our Hands

Relativist pap

While I share your angst about "America's" appetite for drugs, I don't quite share your view that we are the sole responsible party in this problem.

No responsibility - none? - belongs on the heads of the growers? The corrupt Mexican government Army folks or government officials? The Mexican who transport the drugs?

America is bad. American drug users are bad. American government (war on drugs) is bad. The poor Mexicans are just somehow unwitting pawns being manipulated by Bob the crack addict in Philly?

Or we could get philosophical: which came first the crack addict or the Mexican coca grower?

Speaking as

someone who has been deep in Mexico many times, I think the crack addict came first. However, Mexico has been abysmally poor for my whole life, and all of that is the result of the population of Mexico making one dumb decision after another, starting about 1910. Their top down Marxist economy set them up for takeover by the drug lords. and when we put the heat on Colombia, Drug Central moved north. I no longer plan to retire there. Too bad.

60 yr-old wants an END to Drug War

With over 6000 killed in Mexico last year, and over 1000 this year already (March 1, 2009) we have indeed created a GENOCIDE !! The Drug War has resulted in bloodshed far beyond the pale. "Just say No" is enforced with deadly intensity. We have arrested millions. We marginalize human beings by calling them "drug dealers" and "drug addicts." We spend a fortune on modern-day concentration camps (prisons) for those who dare live outside our hypocritical standard to be "drug-free." We have been duped into thinking we can legislate a drug-free society into existence.

America, we DO NOT WANT IT ANY MORE.

We have learned to live with drugs far more dangerous and destructive: alcohol, nicotine and pharmaceuticals. We tax and regulate. It's not perfect, but it works.

Just because we don't like the idea of drugs doesn't mean we should allow our government to carry on like BULLIES, breaking down our doors in the middle of the night and putting our children in jail.

So, if people want to use drugs, LET 'EM !!

Please, let's stop the insanity. Write your Congressional representatives. Just do it! Do it for the Children!
