Muttering Materialists

IF

IF materialism is true, then:
1) There is no good. You cannot say "democracy is good" or "tolerance is good" or "the continued existence of the human race is good."
2) There is no evil. Stealing, murder, mayhem, cheating, lying, etc. are not evil. Not ever, not under any circumstances.
3) There is no love. No man has ever loved his wife or child. No woman has ever loved her husband or baby. No one has ever loved his parents, or siblings, or friends, or profession, or country. In fact, all emotions are fake.
4) There is no freedom. No one has ever made the slightest decision about anything.
5) There is no point to anything. Nobody matters. Nothing matters, not even depression. The past is gone; the future is non-existent (or at least useless). The present is a deceit. Self-gratification and self-denial are equally pointless.

These materialists need to read C.S. Lewis's "The Silver Chair."

Hobgoblin Mind

You are being consistent, of course, which is not only foolish, but an ugly hobgoblin that scares small-minded physicists like yourself. I, on the other hand, have returned from flaming ramparts of infinity and prefer relish on that Nasser sandwich. We, who are the supermen, can avoid your nihilistic conclusions, just by willing it so. Thus spake Niels Bohr, and behold, it was so!

But lest you accuse me of not responding, here is my numbered reply.
1) Of course there is good. Whatever I say it is.
2) Of course there is evil, whatever I don't like.
3) Who needs it anyway? You know the song, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
4) No, this is not correct. As long as I am in charge, I don't care what you call it, I call it freedom.
5) Now that is a profoundly stupid thing to say. I am taking the time to instruct you, and you tell me there's no point? If I say it has a point, it has a point. Don't tell me what is meaningful. I will tell you. Watch my lips: I am meaningful, you are a reactionary meaningless worm who doesn't deserve the paper you write on. Are we clear?

PS Who is CS Lewis, an English prof in some obscure British school? How many divisions are under his command? Why should I care what he says?
