A New Face for The GOP

Sanity

I really think the extreme comments have come from people in heated moments, and do not represent but a tiny insignificant number of the population.

I think we are going to get a good bill that people can agree on, and it will be a good thing, and all this will be history. Some won't b e happy no matter what.

I'm sorry for the bad memories that have surfaced for you. Just know there are many out there who don't like the extreme talk, and don't agree with it.

I KNOW they are the minority

because of the way Hil and the other major candidates are acting. The problem Sheila is that YOU hit it right on the nail. The public doesn't pay attention and when they finally do...they will find a party that seems united and excited about their candidates and a party that is validating all the old stories told about the GOP and Whites.

The public won't HEAR the silent majority because they are...silent.

That is why it is vitally important that people like you and your sister continue to blog and get the message out. Check out Sarah Palin and read why I am pushing for her.

Nothing emotional...just a practical reason...I want the GOP ticket to win.

As for the memories...Sheila, I am the least "victim" playing card person you will ever know...and if I am wondering about the validity of past generations' anger toward Whites...can you imagine what the other minorities are thinking?

Now THAT IS SCARY.

Sanity

I don't think you have to worry about your scenario...

For one thing, I don't think the dems are that excited about their candidates, and second our candidates are likeable, smart, engaging, and not in the least the threatening types.

I think everything will settle down, we'll get a good bill, and the shrill voices will be long forgotten by the election...mark my words.:)

It's still very early in the game...

As I said Sheila, you are a

true conservative...optimistic as all get out.

Good for you--and I hope you are right.

But I know how the average voter thinks...I was one of them. We need to get the absolutes to quit attacking the GOP long enough for the Dems to make a mistake--and the GOP to capitalize on it.

This is a PR war that can't be won if our side continues to go over to theirs.

Great blog

I enjoy your perspective and hope you'll keep blogging.

I don't think the immigration reform effort will save or sink the GOP by itself, but the energy being generated by the discussion will be good for the party as we enter the primary season.

And I've endorsed Palin for VP as well.

Excellent take.

We do need a new face on the GOP, especially after the immigration debate. I'm afraid that will not happen, because Rush, Ingraham, et al, are not going to let it drop.

I put a comment on my blog about the interview that Laura did with Mike Huckabee when he came on her show the other day. She brushed him off pretty quickly when he didn't give the "right" answer on the immigration bill.

Sanity and Other Sane People

I think the people who have endorsed Sarah are a wonderful (and really diverse!) group, and there are more who will be signing up soon. It's our way of starting to gain some influence on the direction of events. Right now, Sarah is somewhat as you suggested earlier "The White Goddess (of the North)," distant geographically but closer and closer to our hearts. At some point, Sarah is going to read the beautiful pieces you've written (she may be doing it now as the Anchorage Daily News is well aware of our effort).

I printed the following update today on my site (because the server is acting up) and I can't get into blog central. God bless to all.

Welcome Dana to Palin 4 VP Bloggers

Today, Dana S. from CA joined Bloggers 4 Palin. Dana's link is: http://behindtheliberallines.townhall.com

I urge to visit Dana and leave comments saluting our "newest" member.

The reason I'm writing this in the comments is that the "manage your blog" function isn't working. I presume it will work again, and I'll salute Dana on "Blog Central." I'll also put the link on my blogroll.

As all of us know (palinforvp, Sanity102, Appletonian, GenXDad, Christopher, BlackTygrrrr, Dana, me, and others), we are building the foundation. After that, the house basically builds itself. In fact, you build it with your support and influence on others.

I hope Madeline's Dad, Mommiephd, and Kelley will join us soon. They're "window-shopping" now.

The best source of information about what's happening currently with Sarah in Alaskan government is:
http://palinforvp.blogspot.com.

My hope is that by this Fall we'll have 100 Bloggers 4 Palin (and a thousand-plus by Election Day, 2008) -- and that #101 will be Sarah Palin herself. Hey Sarah, it's called "new media," and even stick-in-the-muds like Fred Thompson and Hillary Clinton are using it! C'mon in, the water's fine.

steve (still holed up in ambridge, pa)

Hey all, I've just gotten home

and have zero time to read and comment but I should be home at my normal time tomorrow and will catch up.

By the way, Steve? It's the White QUEEN...not Goddess...I'm a Christian (grin).

HELP! Dems Licking Their Chops

Sanity, if you or any of your viewers can help, then please HELP.

Note: I can't seem to find my "manage your blog" link -- although the "create blog" link is there. Where on earth would my manage your blog link be? If anybody has a solution, e-mail me at TalkTop65@aol.com. Or leave a comment on my blog at http://camp2008victory.townhall.com. I can get to the blog, but I can't edit or add anything. Thanks.

Note: Until July 10, when I have to start working again for my business book company, I will be working full-time on Palin for VP. After July 10, I will be working part-time on it. Hey, we all need an obsession, don't we?

One of my main frustrations comes from the people like SteveL who talk about the need to 'balance' the ticket with a Southerner (or a fake Southerner). Goodness sakes, people have to wake up. If we prepare a nice 'balanced' ticket, we will only lose 35 states and go down to a crushing defeat. Even Rush Limbaugh is aware of that prospect. The problem with Fred Thompson, whom I like in so many ways, is that this is a very boring guy. He plays a boring D.A. on tv, somebody who usually looks as if he needs a good nap. Putting America to sleep is not the way to win in 2008 -- or in any election after that.

The more "the guys" tell us they're "just like Reagan," the more we realize they're NOT. Hillary, for all her faults, is, as Limbaugh is saying, a very dynamic (and INTERESTING) candidate. In boring versus dynamic, guess who wins? A predictable ticket with two white guys (with all the traditional geographic "balance") droning out is not exactly what we want.

Am I talking to myself? I think the Dems are licking their chops.

Sanity, Steve

Sanity: The stakes are changing as we speak with the Bloomberg scenario...

There is so much time for so much to happen...

Steve: Hope you're wrong about Thompson if he wins the nomination...

Hill is too much like nails on a blackboard...don't think being "dynamic" will help her much...it's ignorant women who will vote for her just because she's a woman that scares me... :)

Sanity/Sheila

I wrote two comments over on Hugh's blog. Basically, I said that he and fellow talk radio pinheads are mainly responsible for the hatred wrongly directed at Jon Kyl. Someone over there said that Hugh should leave the "sinking ship." I said that he should go down with it (TH) because he helped build it. Basically, I agree with Yankee who says it's a horror show. We've lost the Hispanic vote, probably for the rest of the century. When we lose Linda Chavez, it's hard to think who we might have left. In my case, I am in fact leaving the sinking ship. People like Jon Kyl -- conservatives not consumed by hatred -- have no future in the Republican Party. Hugh may be starting to realize that he wanted to light the fightplace -- but ended up burning down the house. Nice work Hugh. You have left us with a tiny party totally dominated by apopletic white men.

steve

Sanity/Sheila

Oops, I'm leaving Townhall, and this weekend I'll tell you where I've ended up. Sarah Palin is near and dear to my heart, and I intend to keep working on the effort to help her reconstitute the Republican Party. I love some of the people on TH, but too many of them disgust me. I don't recognize them as fellow Americans or even as fellow human beings.

Nothing wrong with the GOP

It's the RINOs (Republicans In Name Only)...people who claim to be "real" conservatiaves when they are really anything but.

The job protection...the build a fence, damn the cost...the intolerance for a different opinion...the disloyalty and back stabbing...THIS is not what Republicans do.

Why do they quote everything Reagan says...except the 11th commandment...Thou shalt NOT attack fellow Republicans?

Steve, I have believed for a long time that this site and the entire GOP has been taken over by people pretending to be conservatives.

We have got to do what we ask the Moslems and the pro-lifers to do with their extreme elements...speak up.

Sanity is in Short Supply

I've told you before Sanity that you and I never meet this side of the Gates of Heaven, but I do care a lot about you and your loved ones. You are a decent and thoughtful human being, which is not an easy status to attain. I agree that this site is taken over by haters -- I mean the scum of the earth. Read those comments about Kyl on Hugh's essay. I mean this is Third Reich stuff. I wrote on my site (comments, since I can't get on to blog) an e-mail I sent to many people about Lorie Byrd's essay (a fine one) on Michael Steele, a Black man she recomends for V-P. (Michael was someone I considered long and hard before I went all-out for Sarah.) But the guys ranting away about how evil Kyl is aren't going to vote for a Black (or Hispanic) anything. I doubt they'd vote for any woman.

In the back of my mind (you've figured this out I bet), I want Sarah to run for President in 2012. I think the 2008 election might be a casualty of the immigration tsunami. I want her on the ticket in 2008 so people can being to discover what we know: that Sarah is political dynamite. In the meantime, people of good will can rebuild.

I believe both Parties are controlled now by extremists -- haters or "absolutists" as you call them. I mean: Jon Kyl isn't conservative enough? Who's left? David Duke? The Grand Kleegle of the Klan?

I hate it that a fine person like Bruce Sherman (who knows a thing or two about racial and religious hatred) has washed his hands of TH, but I sure don't blame him.

Your analogy with the moderate Muslims touches me greatly.
