Racial Profiling?

Profiling

I lived in Cambridge & the Boston area for many years. Profiling? Probably. Racial? No way--I expect the cops were simply fed up to the teeth with the arrogance of yet another member of the intellectual elite who thought that he p'd eau d'cologne.

Cop out

Obviously, according to Obama, the cop/cops acted "stupidly," despite the fact that Obama even said during the news conference that he was not aware of the facts of the case. Then why in the world would he make such a comment if he had no knowledge of what happened? Anytime anyone who is white challenges someone of color, then they are automatically called a racist. Has that become the ultimate means of escaping the law, to use the dreaded "racist" word as a fear tactic? If the roles were reversed, and Sgt. Crowley was standing on the porch facing 4 black cops, would the outcome be any different? I think so. I don't think the issue would be so politicized by the media, who is responsbile for the destruction of this country. The no-talent and uneducated journalists could persuade the poorly educated into believing that the sky is white, not blue. Such a shame.

Crowley...

Should have declined, nothing good will come out of this.

I agree with you totaly with one small exception; main stream journalists are not uneducated (and their level of talent is subjective). They are just the voice for the "Utopists" in the world. They just want everyone to get along. They truly believe that the pen is mighter than the sword and that everyone in the world is realy good inside, one just needs to sit down and talk things out (maybe over a beer?)and everything will be all right. They do not beleive in evil, they feel it is a religious construct. Journalists embrace this concept and it figures as words are their life. Unfortunatly it takes effort to find the kernals of truth in any media today and as such most people (who are distracted with the everyday struggle of life) get thier news from these stary eyed idealists.

It is realy more cut and dried than that. Gates has never denied that he was rabidly upset. During any police investigation, if a police officer tells you to shut up and sit in a corner, legaly you must folow his orders. If not you are subject to arrest for any one of several minor infractions, including failing to follow a legal order. Gates was told repeatedly to calm down and he refused. The police had no choice but to arrest him.
As to profiling, no there was none. No matter what the 911 caller said, there was a report of a break-in. There actually WAS a break-in, Gates freely admits this. The police show up, find a door forced open and someone inside. Common sense dictates that the police need to identify the subject to determine if they are victim or suspect. When the subject refuses and "goes off" and refuses to settle down, they get arrest, frend of BO or not. Black, white, brown, yellow, green, or purple. That is the law.
