Haven't read all of it yet, but...

I noticed a few minor discrepancies in your first comment I feel I'd like to comment on.

1. Hitler wasn't, by the evidence, a Christian - see Matt. 7 for a fairly good reason why. From what I understand, it is quite possible that several of his underlings were Catholics, as I have read that one of them chose to sign a concordat with the roman church, but that's a different story.

2. Most of the Crusaders probably weren't Christians either. They were worldly soldiers following the lead of a political leader who happened to claim religious authority as well, and they were following his lead, not his orders. Best evidence I've seen indicates that they, personally, were probably interested in religion only insofar as it gave them a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card for their own behavior.

I'll try to finish the rest of the post and see if there's anything else I think needs to be brought up.

Oh comeon!!

Hitler wasn't a Christian because of a passage of the bible written oh about 1600 years before he existed is an unbelievably shaky logical stance to make. So I read through Mat 7, and saw nothing that would make me think, Hitler wasn't a Christian. So I did a little digging, outside of the bible of course, and found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler%27s_religious_be liefs which I found positively illuminating. He was born Roman Catholic, was confirmed in the church, and seemed to at the least hold Christianity in the highest regards. I'm sorry, where does a tree that bears no fruit should be cast into the fire have to do with that?

Now... to say anything probably isn't anything, is again, faulty at best. But again, I'll give you a second of doubt. I strolled back to Wikipedia and discovered http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades

"at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban II called upon all Christians to join a war against the Turks" So that right there might seem to show that the pontiff himself called for the war, and specifically requested his sheep to do the bidding. But, I would agree that they were only looking for a get out of jail free. I'd say that fits most Christians today, as they are so willing and able to one day preach the virtues of Christianity then the next day to do the exact opposite of what was preached to them. But they're very much welcomed to treat God as an etch-a-sketch and as if it never happened.

Please do stop by if you find something else erred. Please do site some reference.

Hitler could call himself a democrat

but that wouldn't ,make him one. A Christian believes that Jesus was who he said he was in the bible and behaves accordingly. Hitler can call himself a Christian, but that doesn't make him one.

And going back 1000 years to talk about Christian or Muslim atrocities is just silly. That was a savage, dark time. Let's look at behavior closer to today. Who are the terrorists? I know--do you?

You know you're right

I found this argument so interesting I am making a blog about it!
