Call a cult a cult
Webster's II New Riverside University Dictionary defines a cult as a religion or religious sect generally regarded as bogus or extremist. So, what's the most extremist religion?

Always a cult
Mormonism has always been classified a cult, what gives us the right to make legitimate what has always not been?
The primary difference between Mormonism and Christianity is simple. The Bible says that if you do not have the son nor do you have the father. The Bible supports a co-eternal Jesus meaning He always was. Not created by the Father but always with the Father. Mormons believe that Jesus is a created being which puts them outside of Christianity.
If you don't have the right Jesus you are not a Christian and you can not be saved from the wrath of God on all who have sinned and who have not repented and trusted in the true Jesus.

The intent of your blog is right on, and I am sure you know that. The old english is a challange in parts. It might be worth producing thes message so people not educated to undersatand might see it
the 1913 Webster’s Dictionary defines Cult as all Christian other churches together. Sect is the biblical term used for the churches back then. But as Cult is used, It have been defined by some churches to exclude others that do not see are educated or teach identical to them. It is clearly contrary to what your post here proves. But, we must forgive and pray for them, and not to give offence. They have a right to there conscience. Going back to the Greek and Hebrew, conscience means more. Con from the French Com means with. science means organized knowledge, so conscience meant "with organized knowledge" and a prejudice superstition.

Paul used the word superstition to mean religious, so its meaning then defies the meaning today

Why not call a spade a spade?
Mormonism has many great principals, love of God, family, and country, that said, they also call themselves Christians which is wrong, they are not. According to Christian orthodoxy, their beliefs about God, the father, Jesus, and a few other things preclude them from being defined as Christian. Please, don't take my word for it, read what the late Dr. Walter Martin, says about Mormonism in his complete, and very exhaustive work on Christian cults, "The Kingdom of the Cults". Neither Walter Martin nor his associate contributors have portrayed Mormonism accurately or fairly. The evidence presented is neither sufficient nor balanced. Each "fact" is presented in as negative a light as possible, and only those things that can possibly be construed negatively are employed in the book. In short, without checking out the facts for himself, the unknowing reader is likely to walk away from The Kingdom of the Cults with a completely distorted view of the Latter-day Saint faith. Can any book that distorts its subject in such a manner be of any value?

Walter Martin is already passed from the scene, but during his lifetime, his destiny was to see his nemesis, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints increase from about one million people to about eight million. The destiny of his associates is to witness the ever-expanding Church as it continues to fill the earth. As Joseph Smith prophesied:
Our missionaries are going forth to different nations, and in Germany, Palestine, New Holland, the East Indies, and other places, the standard of truth has been erected: no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing, persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldy, nobly, and independent till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the great Jehovah shall say the work is done.

Mormon-bashing is based on jealousy
The success of the fastest-growing Christian Church in the Americas is due to its appeal for old and tested values: family, God, church, honor, values and patriotism. LDS people do not think that they are perfect. They, however, try to make themselves better by honoring and respecting such immutable values. The critics' jejune diatribes and illogical harangues are usually marked by sophistry and jealousy!

Mormon is a Guy, No, really!
Tell me this isn't a cult:
Smith attempted to retrieve the golden plates from the hill in New York; he could not, however, for another three years. He reported in his journal that the angel Moroni had refused him access: "You have not kept the commandments of the Lord which I gave you...And in his own due time thou shalt obtain them." Prior to the First Vision, Joseph found a "seerstone", a smooth stone "the size but not the shape of a hen's egg." According to the tenets of folk magic which were popular in that region at the time, the seerstone possessed magical powers which allowed the holder of it to locate lost objects and precious metals beneath the earth's surface. Many believed that Smith could not have found the golden plates of Moroni had it not been for this magical stone.
Once he had gotten hold of the plates in 1827, Smith set about translating them. This was done in a space of three months, using scribes while Smith translated from behind a curtain. The end product told a story, amazing and compelling, that explained the divine origins of the American land and people. In Old Testament times, the family of Lehi came to America. Lehi, descended from Abraham and carrying not only his family's geneology, but also the Torah and prophesies of the Holy Prophets, crossed the ocean to live far away from the bondage that had enslaved Jews following the Babylonian attacks of 587 B.C. Upon arriving in this "choice above all other lands," the family of Lehi was cleaved in two as the sons of the family turned against one another. For six centuries, the Nephites and the Lamanites fought one another, until Christ's appearance in America brought the warring bands together. However, this peace lasted only two hundred years; once again the Nephites and the Lamanites fell upon each other. This time, all the Nephites (except Moroni) were extinguished; Moroni survived to bury the records kept by his father, Mormon.

Article 6? Unamerican???
This is in response to Romney, John McCain and other weilding the "bigot" branding iron.
I never thought I would agree with the son of the anti-Christ, Bill Maher, but on this one we are on the same page- Just because Article 6 says "there shall be no religious test" doesn't mean I as a VOTER can't employ my biases and judgemnt regarding voting for them in reference to how they think- Maher would say if you believe in "Judgement Day", then I don't think you have the judgement to be in office. I would say if you do(believe in a judgement day) that means you know that one day you will be accountable for how you treat people. Both are valid depending on perspective. Equally valid is to not vote for someone when real science as in DNA refutes your religion(not evolution which is a pseudo-science) see "DNA and the Book of mormon- EXCELLENT- This is NOT BEING BIGOTED that is SO BOGUS. The Government should not have a test for office but voters CAN have any test they want!! In the 19th century there wer two rgigins that were "dug up". One was evolutionism ie the "Piltdown Man/The Missing Link"(still missing. The other 240 lbs of Gold plates..conveniently still missing as well.
If Dennis Kucinich said he worhipped a klingon space god that should & would cause me to take pause before I pull the lever for him NOTHING UNAMERICAN About This!!!!! McCAin tried this same BS in SC back in 2000 trying to make bush look bad because he went to speak at an Anit-catholic college.. Was not our opposition to inquisitorial cathlolicism the reason our forfathers came here????

Why Romney
I was very skeptical of Romney at first, but his record/leadership is by far the best. We are electing a president, not a preacher. Dwight Eisenhower was elected as a Jehovah's Witness (after his inauguration he converted to be Presbyterian). Was that bad for our country?
It says in the bible to "Beware of false prophets. By their fruits ye shall know them." They have no paid ministry and mormons are on the whole good people......sure they practiced polygamy one time, but so did prophets/people in the bible. Romney gets things done. He has the best education, excellent family values and proven leadership skills.
Chances are over 90% that if you are born into a mormon or baptist family, you will become an adult mormon or baptist--likewise with any religion. So when you get down on someone for being a mormon, baptist, jew, etc., remember that it is probably the "faith of their fathers" and cut them a little slack. Look deeper into their character, lifestyle, humanity and work ethic. Ann Coulter even feels he's the best still in the race....google "the elephant in the room by ann coulter"

From a cultist part 1
I believe in Jesus Christ.
I believe that He is the only begotten son of the Father.
I believe that He is the creator of this earth like it says in the book of John. The same one that Old Testament prophets spoke to, some of whom saw Him 'face to face.' (Abram, Jacob, Moses, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Amos)
I believe that He had a physical body that was genetically part of Mary and part of His Divine Father. (No, I don't think it had to happen through sex; even WE can manage pregnancy without that, now.) I would guess that the Divine genes would be dominant, so that He would look like His Father (If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.)
I believe that He experienced every aspect of a physical life; pain, sorrow, eating, drinking.
I believe that He had powers beyond ordinary humans because of his Heavenly parentage and because of His faith in His Father.
I believe that He led a life free of sin.
I believe that, although sinless, He nevertheless set an example for us by being baptised by his cousin, John, who had the authority to do so from God.
I believe that the Holy Ghost rested upon Him and that the voice of the Father spoke from heaven at Jesus' baptism.
I believe that Jesus prayed to His father, asking that his followers could be one as He and his father are one.
I believe that when He repeatedly referred to himself as the "Son of Man" that He was telling us something.
I believe that he suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross for our sins, and gave up his own life on our behalf (in other words, the Romans could not kill him.)
I believe that while his body was in the tomb, that he was wherever spirits go when they separate from the physical body.
I believe that he was resurrected with a glorified, immortal body, and that he enabled other spirits to gain the same (some at that time, some later.)

From a cultist part 2
I believe that when he appeared to thousands of His followers, he had a physical body (proved by touch, and by his eating in their presence.)
I believe that after giving final instructions, He ascended to heaven, where He continues to labor on our behalf.
I believe that He will once again return to the earth with His glorified body and with the righteous, resurrected hosts of heaven, to personally rule on Earth for a thousand years.
I believe that He know each of us individually and loves us, even when we squabble.
It looks to me that I pretty much follow what is written in the New Testament, doesn't it?
What I DON'T believe in is the Jesus Christ that was created by committee in Nicea to appease various factions of Christians three hundred or so years later, and that has been the basis of other Christian churches ever since. Notice that whenever Christians have the chance to actually READ the Bible, they have questions about their church doctrines. Otherwise, we would all be Catholics or Eastern Orthodox.

From a cultist final
While some Christian sects would claim that Mormons are not Christian, I would respectfully disagree, and counter that our beliefs about Jesus come closer to the Bible's teachings than theirs. Not understanding the Trinity is an easy way to say, "Don't ask too many questions, since it really makes no sense." Mormons make no attempt so sway others to their faith, except as they personally pray to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ to know for themselves if the teachings are true. Would you be willing to learn your own church's doctrine and take the same challenge? Does any other church insist that its members receive a personal witness of its doctrines to join, not just accepting Jesus as their personal savior?
Finally, there is room for everyone at the Christian table. Please don't confuse doctrinal differences with all Christians' honest efforts to emulate the Savior. That is what unites us, even in election season.
