i am a first grade teacher and i can tell you there is a world of difference between a child that is an only child and a child that has at least one brother or sister. i can honestly say (from first hand experience) that the greater (about 95%) percentage of children that are only children are far more selfish, and inconsiderate of other children in the classroom and on the playground. they are woefully unaware of the feelings of other children and adults. they are more inclined to act as if the world revolves around them and are less likely to do or play things that they do not want. they are also less likely to entertain themselves.
