Perhaps we always feel that way. Not quite in that really, really grown-up world, but not quite ready to forget and discard our memories of events or to forget and discard things of the world when we were children.

Too many times lately I look at my very grown-up daughter, and at her very own grown-up daughter (one of them), and wonder how this happened.

One can only say lamely that nobody ever said life was fair. Or, to me, reasonable. What is reasonable about having a grown daughter who has two grown daughters? Rather, we are like sisters. And each thinks the others are beautiful. Who needs more, really?
