Comment on: Reformation Man

Mrs. Palin’s Noble Behavior

Amen Reformation Man, so true the

rise and fall of America! Decadence dominates, priorities amiss! Ugly Americans trash a decent classy lady Sarah who is a hard working, success-ful, patriotic Governor with an all American family, because she doesn't embrace their standards and is competition! They make a hero of the lost Soul Jackson and give homage to the drug addict just because he is a great musical talent. At least now Michael can have peaceful sleep! Frankly, our Christian Nation, under the leadership of the Muslim Obama ,is going to hell in a lib/Dem handbasket! The President is his fathers son. Ye shall know them by their works. A true Christian would not advocate for and take a Pro Choice position. Ex Democrat

Amen Miss Vickey...

Thanks for visit and for taking time to comment. There is no depth to the depravity shown against the Palin family.

A true Christian sees men as image bearers and worthy of liberty and self-determination. Marxism and Christianity are incompatible.

Are you also an ex Darwinist?

Quick Question

Valiant, would you be calling Sarah Palin's behavior noble if she weren't a Christian? Or at least not a form of Christianity you agree with like Catholicism? I have nothing against Palin and I like what she has to say about limited government and rejecting bailout money. But some of her social policies I don't agree with. How much of her religious background plays a part in you and others' defense of her?

Jack...

Did you read the article by Sandy Rios? The noble behavior of which I speak is denying self for the good of another. Yes, according to Christ these are the greatest in the kingdom of God.

I reread the Augustine work and wanted to point out that the link contains 2 books. Both speak to the questions we were discussing.

Didn't Answer My Qustion

That's all well and good, Valiant, but that's not the question I was asking. I read the article and it's a good article. But this isn't the first time you've spoken highly of Palin. I want to know just how much of your support comes from the fact that she's a devout Christian like you. So I'll ask it again. Valiant, would you be calling Sarah Palin's behavior noble if she weren't a Christian?

I see,

when I talk about the sins of the Reformers, I am told to take the log out of my own eye. But feel free to talk about the sins of the left.

Two points. First, I have yet to read anyone on the left who even cares about Sarah Palin's faux pas. I am sure there are democratic liberals and some of the left who have been cruel and unfair with her. That is wrong and detestable. But why talk about the left as a whole when many on the left have not talked about her.

Second, I find that who has the most moral view must be taken on an issue by issue basis. Take the oppression that comes from US foreign policies or Israel's occupation against the Palestinians and, Biblically speaking, the left is more scriptural in their view than most religiously conservative Americans.

Let's try again...

What is more noble than denying self for the good of another?

My understanding is that Todd and Sarah Palin committed themselves to their unborn child knowing that he was Down syndrome. This speaks volumes. Their definition of worth is contrary to the world’s definition. Why would anyone be inconvenienced by a special needs child when abortion is available and recommended? Worth has to do with the child being an image bearer, not his level of intelligence or outward beauty.

And where does that definition of worth come from? What does Christ teach men of their worth?

“What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” –Jesus Christ

Life itself becomes precious; abortion becomes unthinkable. Think also of the lesson the Palins are teaching their children.

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it” [Matthew 16:25]. This is about self denial and considering the other more important than yourself. Only the power of the gospel can give a man the heart to delight in these things.

What they are doing now is consistent with what they have done before.

Valiant

The question is is that what she did or was that a show? I couldn't prove it but I think the latter is true.

Love…

Why am I not surprised? Have you ever considered Philippians 4:8 or I Corinthians 13:4-8? Without evidence to the contrary, love demands that we think the best of our brothers. Love does not consider a wrong done; love even covers a multitude of sins.

Do you know the meaning of Revelation 2:2-6?

Valiant

The only judgments I make of Sarah are by the words I hear from her. I don't pay attention to the accusations because some of the accusations are trivial, I don't have the resources to verify the serious accusations, and some of the statements made about her are shamefully opportunistic.

On the other hand, does your willingness to focus on the sins of people who are different, those who are not reformed theologically and conservative politically, show that you have no love for them?

Questions & answers...

If you will not answer my questions, then don't expect me to answer yours. Besides, I have already answered many times and in many ways, but you do not understand.

Valiant

We share almost the same doctrinal beliefs. Our difference, with regards to making accusations, you practice a double standard. You so easily accuse non believers of everything under the sun and so easily link their alleged faults to their belief system why you are so defensive regarding believers.

It wasn't too long ago when Jack and I were discussing the actual words Luther wrote when he wrote against the Jews and you replied by saying if we are going to say something against Luther, move to another blog. And now you defend Sarah Palin against everything. I agree that some of the accusations made against her are "shamefully opportunistic." This includes the jokes made about her family.

But her personal performances, such as in the debate with Biden as well as her interviews, show tremendous deficits. And she tried to put on fronts for those deficits.

Valiant, again we have many shared beliefs. But I am not into authoritarianism. That is what I think you are defending when you so easily accuse those who are different but are so defensive regarding those whom you promote.

Truth & offense…

C5, thank you for the criticisms. I will consider them with the belief that they are offered in a sincere effort to help me with what you see as error.

Murray made the statement that Christians justify not loving their neighbors when they are our theological or ideological opponents.

Conscious efforts have been made here to distinguish between my neighbor and his ideology. I point to Aurora, Ed and Jack as examples. I do not claim to be without sin; we are admonished in the word to increase more and more.

I will restate again my belief that Darwinism and Roman Catholicism and Protestant Arminianism and Dispensationalism are not persons; they are ideologies opposed to the gospel that must be opposed without compromise. We would contend for the truth without being contentious. But we know that truth is contentious, and it does not go forth without offense. The best example is that of Jesus Christ [1 Peter 2].

Valiant

I agree those items are not persons but they still manage to become idols to some--just as Reformed theology has become an idol to some of its believers.

Just that we are all in the same boat with regards to sin. We just need to help as many as possible switch boats when it comes to redemption.
