The Roanoke Times: Gun Control is Based on False Premises

Thanks

You're right...it was worth reading. I especially enjoyed his logic when suggesting moviegoers' mouths would be taped shut before entering the theater. Ha!

You may have already heard this one...I don't recall who said it and I'm paraphrasing...when asked why he needs a gun when the police are nearby, he compared it to keeping a fire extinguisher handy, even though firefighters are nearby.

Greg B, SD

It is a good article; and you are correct, it is worth reading.

Thanks for stopping by.

Greg B, SD

GREAT analogy. I'll be using that in the future.

Gunny

Thanks for taking a look at this article. Although we have all heard what he wrote many times, it is always good to see it again.

Gray Ghost

Thanks for the link to this article.

Thinking about the push for gun control on the part of so many out there, I have to wonder just what keeps them from seeing the illogic of their arguments.

Either they are totally ignorant of reality and the relevant statistics, or they lack reading comprehension skills, or they are just plain stupid.

The only other possible answer I can think of is that this is nothing more than a push for power by removing the ability of the citizenry to resist tyranny.

CF

I believe that the last line of your comment says it all, "a push for power".

Conservatives do not have a license on "smart". The Liberal Leaders know and understand what we know and understand.

After McCain's 2nd Amendment Speech

I have to admit. He is as clueless as Comrades Obama and Clinton.

The 2nd Amendment is NOT about duck hunting. Or squirrel hunting or antique collectors. After spending years in bloody war against a tyrannical form of government, do not think when our forefathers sat down to draft a constitution they would put in a clause to protect a GAME or a sporting event or anything except SELF DEFENSE and Preservation of the rest of the Constitution.

Thye 2nd Amendment gives American Citizens the ability to resist an ever encroaching and power grabbing givernment. This is why the government is so interested in redefining the wnd Amendment.

Know this. The current government is h311 bent on removing the original intent of the 2nd Amendment. Even McCain refuses to acknowledge the REAL intent of the 2nd. Will you invoke the 2nd Amendment? Or will you abdicate your rights and responsibilities?

afraid of their friends

They are not afraid of conservatives having guns. They aggressively protest on every inch of this country unmolested. Their friends though, black panthers, Billy "the bomber" Ayers and his bridezilla Bernie Dohrn, FALN, weathermen, Che, Fidel, Joey Stalin, etc. don't play so well with others.

Buck?

I am probably asking a dumb question, but are you in the NRA? (I am an Endowment Life member.) If you are not, I would love to talk to you about joining.

I agree with you. A close read of the "Federalist Papers", some of the writing and letters of both Madison and Jefferson, and other documents pertaining to the Constitution shows the Founders understood that the purpose of the 2nd Amendment was PROTECTION (from both thieves and politicians).

KenUSA

Please explain yourself further. I am not sure I understand your comment.

Gray Ghost

No I am not a member. Just another procrastination. Now I am retired on a fixed income. I do support the NRA in every way I can.

Buck

Give them a call (1-877-NRA-2008).

It's getting serious out there and there is strength in numbers.
