Pondering on "Render unto Caesar"...

Christian Principles
Our country was born by Christians who actually acted the preachings of Christ out as I think the Lord would have approved. All we hear now is words from even the Church, as we go striaght into the land of Sodom. That phrase from Christ is relative to the taxation of individuals at the time, and considered the general welfare of his flock. I believe this statement "Render unto Caesar what is Caesars" means do not abandon your responsibility to the community as a whole. Christ also preached the evils of sloth and it's burden on society. This Government is taking us to levels of welfare we have never seen. It was bad enough after the great society, but the class of economic slaves we have created would make Crist bring down this Church/Government. Our poor live now in the top 10% of the world as pertaining to standards of living. We have given more to the needy in the world than all other nations combined. Now this new administration wants to take us down the same roadmap that has bankrupted every country in which it has been tried, leaving the poor in real poverty. This country has never seen poverty on a large scale. Even the great depression, when put into context of the average standard of living, is not going to be close to the masses of needy people. We have not gone through any need for three generations and my worry is a spoiled rotten society will eat it's own before sharing. I also have a disability that impairs my travelling, but not my mobility. It sounds like a paradox, but I have a panic disorder that will not allow me to drive. It is our own private jail, but I would wager both of us feel more fortunate than most of the whiners in the welfare lines. Godd Bless.

Hmmmmm... I still see a difference...
I'm still not convinced that this is a "Christian" country. I simply see a difference between "a political system started by many people, including committed Christians" and "Christian political system.
People seem to be willing to consider this difference, for example:
Meacham: The End of Christian America | Newsweek Religion | Newsweek.com
http://www.newsweek.com/id/192583
I'm not entirely convinced that the majority, American religion actually IS Christianity as I understand it. I'm not sure that government CAN be Christian, even if the majority of the people in power are Christians.
