Great job laying this issue out. This notion of a right to healthcare,education, blah, blah, blah drives me nuts. "We need a healthcare Bill of Rights." Uh no...We already have a Bill of Rights and it does quite nicely.

I recall from way back yonder in 1993 or so, P.J. O'Rourke had the best one sentence refutation of socialized healthcare: "If you think healthcare's expensive now, wait til it's free."

LOVE the O'Rourke quote! It is so true. It really bothers me that people are so easily suckered into thinking this is such a great idea. It's so obviously not and there a plenty of other countries who have proved it. Thanks for stopping by.

I wrote that O'Rourke quote from memory, and thus incorrectly. But it was an accident as I had forgotten how bad my memory was. Here's the correct quote:

It's your lucky day! The Dems are back in the saddle and are prepared to grant you your every right...and don't worry, I know that the right to manicures has got to be somewhere in that living, breathing, Constitution of ours.

I suppose we should all want to be like Canada. They have universal healthcare and cheap meds...and they have to come here just to see a doctor in a reasonable amount of time. Or maybe we can be like Cuba and have the best healthcare system in the Western Hemisphere. Of course they have no medicine, but that doesn't matter. The healthcare is free!

Just wondering, why does it seem that so many Americans are oblivious to the facts regarding socialized medicine and how it has and is playing out in other countries?
