All good, but...
Sometimes it isn't what you do, but how you do it. For example, "attack" is what, IMHO, we did too much of last year. Playing defense is letting the other guy set the agenda, and our "other side" will always be able to attack better than we do. We have scruples. What's far better is to elucidate the truth. What was it Truman said? “I never give them hell. I just tell the truth and they think it's hell.”
The other thing that somebody has to say, somewhere, is that we not only "lost our way" in 2006 (and before), but that we forgot the key to winning elections: giving your people something to vote for other than "the other guy is worse." We poured all our energy into get-out-the-vote and all our money into negative campaigning. Neither one works if the voters don't see any possibility of having THEIR issues addressed. That means tackling the big issues, and "solving the problem" despite what the MSM" and useful idiots (D-Moon) say about you.

Attack versus defend...
It would be nice if the White House at least STOOD UP FOR ITSELF once in a blue moon. You can not continue to win elections if you let the other side continue to define who you are.
You are right though in the comment that we have to give the people something to vote FOR. That is something that I don't think Chairman Carey has figured out yet, sadly. That is why it is up to the grass roots to do what the state party won't do.....tell the voters who we are, what we stand for and why our ideas are better.....

I see it coming
I don't know how well it will be done. I know the desire is there, and I plan to help. I am optimistic that many, many others see the same need.
I think the WH does the best it can with a "nice guy" at the helm. We have Dick Cheney and others to tell the truth about the opposition, but you are right that it should happen more often. I'm still upset about allowing the "Bush lied" lie to stand. I'll say it again: what our communication policy should be is easily summed up as "Let no lie go unanswered, let no truth go unspoken."
