Good, that's the point, we cannot look to government to solve everything, nor should it or can it.

Here's the way I see it:
There is a certain type of person who does not want their actions judged by another person. These people have been successful at removing God from the public realm.
What has stepped in to fill the vacuum are so-called "do-gooders" who believe they care more for You and Your Family than YOU do. That's what they think empowers them.

Yes, God has successfully been removed from our society. Heaven forbid that children would pray in school! A Manger should never be allowed on the Public Square at Christmas. The Ten Commandments or a Cross must not be seen in Public.
For the "do-gooders" the new motto is "In Government We Trust."

I think
that we need to find a former senator to head up a committee to see if the sky is in fact falling, and whether the actions of humanity, especially Americans, can be deemed the culprit for this falling. Furthermore, we need to form a new cabinet level post, the Secretary of Atmospheric Descent, and provide for this person a whole slew of agents who can look at farms, pharmaseuticals, big oil, and big tobacco and find the culrpit of this catastrophic environmental disaster and fine them into oblivion. Then we need to tax airlines and balloons and pet stores that sell birds for their encroachment on the sky to pay for it all. Wonder if the Democrats should hold a sky falling debate in the Space Needle to address all of these serious issues. Then Hillary can tell us all that she did not agree with her Husbands administration when he ignored this issue, and Barack Obama can unilaterally invade the sky looking for Osama, while Hillary calls him Naive and foolish for it

both need to be limited.
I still say that the best way to limit lawsuits would be to impliment 'loser pays'.
As for government involvement, the solution is simple. If the Constitution doesn't authorize, specifically, the federal government to be involved, then it should keep it's paws to itself!

That's the Democrat's platform! You nailed it. If we let them win, we can say that we went in with our "Eyes Wide Open."

One of the things that
struck me with the Minneapolis bridge incident was the shout of "Things like this don't happen in America!" This was usually followed by the finger pointing and/or extrapolation to the notion that our entire highway system is decrepit, underfunded, etc.
Well, it is indeed correct to point out that things like that horrible event don't happen in America. But isn't that a good thing? Doesn't that say something positive about our country?

Sandra, attempts to shift the responsibility and blame elsewhere have been going on since God confronted Adam and Eve.
"Adam, why did you eat the forbidden fruit?"
"The woman You gave me made me do it!"
(Note how he tried to place the blame on two others...well, he had two hands to point with....)
Problem: it didn't work then, and it doesn't work now.

Thanks for the great post, Sandra. It's a needed reminder that life happens, the good and the bad and the need to accept it. Of course, certain events demand change (9/11) but we must emotionally accept that tradgey will always happen daily here on Earth.

Did you see that email from TH to "thank the president" for supporting "stronger enforcement on illegal immigration?"
This is ridiculous...if anyone bothered to read the last bill that they hammered the president on...they'd find the SAME deal...more border patrols...FINES for employers...and yes, STREAM LINING THE GUEST WORKER system (which they called amnesty)
But NOW, the elite of talk show, fox, and TH has given PERMISSION to SUPPORT the president...okay ye people of "principle"...NOW, you can put "supporting" this war time president in your list of why "conservatives" are better than "liberals".

Sorry, but it STILL
angers me...we should have been sitting on at least 2 more terms of GOP in the WH and maybe a decade more of a GOP congress that would have kept up our great economy...over turned Roe vs. Wade...did something about border control...AND the only thing that REALLY counts at this time...fought the war.
Now thanks to the fight for ratings and some egoes...we are facing a REAL possibility of a Democrat Commander in Chief and an appeasing Congress IN TIME OF WAR!!
Geez...let's talk real stupid here!

Immigration enforcement and border security can be done and should be done without the now dead immigration bill. Enforcement did not need a new bill, as we can see by increased enforcement. It was all the other stuff that was in the bill that caused people to contact their legislators and complain.
I have posts up about "Why The Republicans Lost" and "Talk Radio Must Be Kept Free" which tie into the immigration question and why Republicans lost Congress.
No one gave anyone the OK to Back the President. Bush should have been doing this and not support the bad immigration bill. He is now doing what he should have been doing all along.
Why do some want to continue to battle over the now dead immigration bill?

They don't get it
The only thing different between the "bad" bill and what is now lauded as "good" is that the bill was going to actually card the illegals and have them shoulder the cost for the program.
Like the Liberals who are anti-choice EXCEPT when it comes to killing pre-born babies...the absolutes are against big government programs and job protection EXCEPT when it comes to deporting Mexicans.
And they won't get it until there's an appeasing Democrat in the WH and the bombs start going off. Then they'll haul out their flags and focus on winning the war.
And for every 9/11 that happens...and every American terrorized...I will be there to ask...now tell me again what was SO IMPORTANT about illegal immigration that you turned your back on the ONLY viable party that wanted to win the WOT?

Good Post Sandra
I think this all comes down to a mindset. The liberal mindset is all about emotions and little about facts. Thus, when something bad happens, they focus on how terrible it is and demand someone do something about it. Facts are only used to support previously and emotionally achieved ends.
Thus, when any sparrow falls, it is the job of government to ensure that it never happens again.
By the way, stop over. I have a new post on "Our Broken Military".

"It is no accident that the lessening, or loss, of belief in certain absolute truths, such as the existence of God and the reality of immortality, has occurred at the same time there has been a sharp gain in the size and power of governments. Once we remove belief in God from the center of our lives, as the source of truth and as a determiner of justice, a tremendous vacuum is created into which selfishness surges, a condition that governments delight in managing."
