Good post. Amazing some people think we're dooming our planet in the future by driving SUV's and using coal power. Anyone can agree that pollution isn't great, but to say man can alter the environment through an excess of CO2 in our atmosphere is lacking in the science department and more into political agenda. You don't have to be a scientist to understand the sun drives our weather. The only way I can see us altering the world is detonating a nuke in every volcano in the world.

Good one, Sarge
I think you're right - the left grabbed onto the "global warming" crutch as a facilitator to help them change world more to their liking. Now that global warming is no longer assumed (by the masses) to be true, they'll try to speed up their tactics to get climate-based legislation passed before the rubes wake up. There is still a lot of happy-talk among congress and the white house on climate change issues.

We live near Chitcago, and Mr. MDMG was really looking forward to climate warming. He wanted to plant palm trees all around the yard. He's going to be sooooo disappointed.
We're also waiting for normal temps. to arrive. It's so cool here that we're still wearing jackets and sweatshirts in the morning/evening. We could sure use a hefty dose of warmth, but if this continues, we won't need much ac.

Of course, as their scam unravels, we can expect the Gore-ites to become increasingly hysterical.
Don't Ya love all this Change?

Thanks one and all for stopping and for some pithy commentary.
Eric-be careful what you suggest. Some genius recently suggested shooting gobs of pollution into the atmosphere to force cooling. the greens are getting desperate, and they may take you up on your suggestion.
Garnet-I think the administration got a serious death blow today when the House Ag committee voiced near unanimous hate for the Waxman/Markey
MD/MG-No warming in the last 10 years really jacked up their agenda. The greens even hired PR firms to try to come up with language that was less alarming. So, if it's not so alarming, then why all the drama?? I also like the fact that many organizations are touting the benefits of warming and there have been reports of new ice age coming again. They have no clue.
Patrick-House divided...not a good scenario. I'm more worried about that than I am about climate change. "Hot topic"-very punny.
Jackpine-I have relatives in Green Bay area, they are telling me the same thing. Here in Lex, we have normally seen a number of days 90-plus by now, I think we have had 1 or 2 so far. I think the cap-trade train may get derailed by the House. Keep your fingers crossed.

Wonderful article and analysis and the thread comments are great.
Families are great, even if some relatives are a bit out there. I also have experience with this.
Here's what I think the House/Senate/President ought to do ... TAX THE SUN. Hey, if they can lay thousands upon thousands of dollars on those who have not even been born yet, they can tax the sun. Then the President can appoint a Sun Czar to ensure that the Sun cooperates with their agenda.

True that. You know, every day I see some BS headline on Yahoo or Google about some catastrophe that "may" happen next century...whatever. It takes me 2 seconds to find something to refute it. I'm no expert, but then again neither are the idiots on the Hill. They need to get off this train quick. Looks like the AG committee in the House is ready to torpedo the whole thing. Kudos to them. Someone finally acting like adults...

Government schools have embraced gorebull warming and have indoctrinated the small children into feeling guilty for breathing. They are being asked if mommy and daddy recycle or drive an SUV.
Because it`s been cooling off (cycles), they have had to change the term from gorebull warming to climate change. That proves it`s the biggest scam going. If CONgress does pass Cap and Trade, it will put the final nail in the coffin of the US economy. Is that what the left wants? Good post, Sgt. Stryker! The SUN KING rules!

Good to see you, thanks for stopping by!
Unfortunately, there are a number of leftists and statists that do want the economy to fail. More on that later.
I school my kids regularly on the BS they are being fed at school, and my oldest has gotten into some heated arguments with his classmates about some of this crap. I'm about done with the public schools.
I love the walkback they did with the terminology. Don't want to scare the folks with the language. But if it's such a major problem, shouldn't they be trying to scare the crap out of us?
They can't make up their minds because IT'S ALL A LIE!!

Can't wait to see what's next. Since we've had ice age in the 80's, and warming more recently, is it possible that moderation may be more severe than we expect? Congress will have a field day.

Nothing wrong with promoting man living in harmony with his surroundings, and caretaking his sand box for the future generations. That's not whats in play. This is about Gore getting rich, and the government taking control of our lives. Great piece Stryker.

The One Easy Rebuttal Point
Just ask one of the morons how many SUVs and coal fired electricity plants are in use on Mars. Since the temperatures on Mars have been mirroring those here on Earth (reported from our probes and evidenced by enlarging/shrinking of polar ice caps), it kinda defeats every argument of the man-made glo-bull warming alarmists.

Thanks all 3 of you for stopping and for the comments.
Georgetwin-It's very unfortunate that the depth and degree of disagreement can be so vast within a family. I have to live with it everyday, and it is really hard to keep my composure. I just...pray.
Davecat-I'm hoping some astute Rep. beats the Gore finance aspect to death. It was mentioned, then kind of dropped. I think there is a lot more to the story, but I don't think I will be holding my breath.
Craw-excellent point as well. Volcanos at the poles affecting water temps and melting sea ice, methane as a more effective greenhouse gas,and high temps on earth when there was very little carbon activity are all damming evidence that the left ignores in its war on carbon. Wrong enemy.

than I do.
This is a power play, per and simple. O'Vomit and the Dumbocraps are also using it to gain power (and money). The "unwashed" masses go along with this crapola because they do not use their head for anything more than a place to hang their hat.
Education is the key. And that is why I am glad to see that "home schooling" is becoming so popular. Most of the public schools in urban areas are so poorly run that the children graduating from high school today have less of an education than 6th grade graduates of 30 years ago.
PS: I have only one relative who believes this crapola and she is regularily laughed out of any serious discussions. My family does not mind "hurt" feelings.

Thanks for stopping and for the salient comments.
You can tell Algore doesn't believe the crap he's peddling by the shifty look on his face whenever he speaks. That, and, oh yeah, the facts don't support his case. What a buffoon.
Seems to me the leftists in my family want to "prove" their intelligence by latching on to every lib cause they can, like they have transcended the common folk. What they don't know is the common folk have common sense. The left is in very short supply of that commodity.

Good post and I find it quite enjoyable. I have one friend who believes everything that Gore says. Even though of course the guy is not a scientist. I guess that does not matter. She thinks he is the best and his going to save us all.
Now excuse me while I got gas up my gas guzzling SUV and drive off into the sunset.

I'm with you on the SUV...mine really sucks the gas when I'm pulling my BASS boat with the AC running.
I've been on my soapbox about them using global warming to screw our economy into the ground for quite a while now. Waxman-Markey passed the House, but looks like it may not get thru the Senate. We need to make sure, by contacting our Senators early and often.
