I Just Realized What Change Means

Hm.

Well, I think that by "change" they mean a whole raft of things. I think that the racial element is a hidden consideration, however, in much popular thinking. Perhaps this is what you mean.

But they do mean "change" writ large. Americans have lost touch with our history and background to the point that we are indeed toying with change for the sake of it, just on mere faith that somehow it will work out for the best.

Racist-Epiphany

I am an immigrant, minority. I am also a Republican Conservative. I do not think you are a racist. I, too, think that it is a testament to America's greatness that a black man who couldn't eat or drink from the same counter or fountain as a white man sixty years ago is headed to the White House. I too, would be waving his flag, except that his economics border on being socialist, his morals are based in convenience, and his liberal record proclaims a government that takes care of all from cradle to grave with the absolutely dismissal of any self-reliance.

I would put a black man int he White House, willingly...just not this Black Man.

Libs see race - Cons see ideas

I'm an MLK, "content of one's character" kind of gal...I see ideas and policies. I challenge people of all stripes, dots, colors, and what-have-you to find transcripts of candidate's speeches (they have no race identity), and READ THEM. The ideas and policies in them are much easier to "see".
Another challenge: search for the definitions of terms that are used. Don't assume that your understanding of a word is the way the it is being used by the candidate.
Example: "health of the mother" as an out for voting against late-term abortions or partial-birth abortions...McCain was absolutely correct in the last debate, but didn't drive the point home. This phrase has been used to represent a very broad and ill-defined array of things that includes almost anything, thus almost always allowing the partial birth abortion. Using this "out" give Obama a way to say he will vote against late term abortions, if the health of the mother is protected, KNOWING it is meangingless and he can actually vote to allow this horrible practice.
That's just one example - but it's an easy one to explain.
Race should not play any role whatsoever in choosing a President. Period.
