Comment on: Romney for President. NOT!

A warning from someone inside Mitt Romney's cult

The Incoherent Warning

The intricate and careful study of "one letter" to act as evidence against the presidency of the former Governor of Massachussetts reveals perhaps a mommy problem in the above writer.

Yet, as a country we face issues like the War in Iraq, out of control spending by congress, unbalanced trade with China eroding our wages, soaring immigration costs, an increasing national debt, thriving corruption in government (Sandy Burger, etc. etc. etc.) and this guy thinks we have time deal with his mommy issue.

Try this for a start, take Mormon out of your vocabulary. This decreased hatred may allow you to see the real problems we face as Americans.

Who is your candidate???

historical evidence?

The quickest way to take the wind out of this author's sails is to ask for historical evidence.

There is not a shred of historical evidence for mormons in politics having a conflict of interest with their church leadership any time in the last 100 years.

There's a great article written on this topic:

http://www.evangelicalsformitt.org/front_page/wheres_the_historical_evidence.php

Think about it

I do not direct this post to the author above, but to anyone who might read this thread. In the Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints there is a covenant made, among others, to consecrate one's life to God and his kingdom. I don't see this as very unusual, to put God first in you life, do you? Mormons also recognize very keenly to respect the agency of others. There have been many LDS government officials, whose record deserves attention when considering if a Mormon would use his/her position to elevate their religion. Here are some examples, the list is daunting, but just check a few:

Bob Bennet - Senator R UT
Terrel Bell - sec of Education R
Ezra Benson - Sec of Agriculture R
Rob Bishop - Congressman R UT
Angela Buchanan - US Treasurer R
Berkeley Bunker - Senator D NV
Chris Cannon - Congressman R UT
Martha Hughes - Senator D NV
Ruben Clark - Undersecretary of State R
Delwin Clawson - Mayor, Congressman R CA
Mike Crapo - Senator R UT
Jeff Flake - Congressman R AZ
Jim Gibbons - Congressman R NV
Orrin Hatch - Senator R UT
Ralph Harding - D ID
Paula Hawkins - Senator FL
Jeffrey Max Jones - Senator (Mexico) Chihuahua
Buck McKeon - Congressman R CA
Gregory Newell - Under Secretary of State
Ivy Baker Priest - US Treasurer
Harry Reid - D NV
Tom Udall - Congressman D NM

These men and women campaigned, lead, and voted independent of the Church. Romney has done the same in his past positions and will do so if he is elected president.

Paranoia from ex-mormon-conspiracy-theorists are just delusion. But get use to it because it will continue as long as Romney is in the race.

A Mormon Responds

For those who profess to be enlightened on the Mormon church's temple ceremony and the non-existent conflict it poses to public office, it's strange that nothing is mentioned about Harry Reid, the current Majority Leader of the United States Senate. The un-named author of this shoddy piece can't produce one shred of evidence that any Mormon serving in any office has ever used their position to benefit the church. As you know, Senator Reed is in a much better position to "do what's best for his church" than any presidential candidate. Those who know Mormons, know that they are among the most honest, moral, and conscientious citizens of this country. The church maintains strict neutrality when it comes to endorsing political figures, and it is guided by the twelfth article of its faith (penned by Joseph Smith himself):

We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

This is simply an inflammatory and poorly presented hit piece from a person that clearly has a axe to grind with the Mormon church. First, it is factually false on every level. The person clearly has no insight into the real teaching within the Mormon temple or its application in the lives of millions of its members. Yet he/she seeks to lecture those who support Romney on something that he/she admittedly knows nothing about. As you read the vapid arguement and pedantic tone you know the arguments can't stand on their own.

Second, attacking a candidate for their religious convictions is a slippery slope. Isn't it ironic that many who profess to be religiously minded are the most ardent critics of other denominations. Postings such as this are dangerous because they erode all people of faith's incentive to enter public service. The same canard that religion = irrational allegiance to one's church is currently being touted by secularists who want to discourage religion in America and around the world. It has been argued to George Bush's "born again" commitment to Jesus Christ has negatively impacted his decisions as President. I don't need to mention Kennedy and the Pope either. How are these false ideas new or any different? We need to celebrate people of high standards and religious conviction, not tear them down for their willingness to dedicate their lives to public service.

Murphy beat me to it but..

Could you give even one good example of when this would become a problem? Isn't this like the Catholic/Pope problem? Considering how Freemasons have been President, does it create a problem that their oath requires them to honor God, country, neighbor and self in that order? It is not a conflict that an American leader derives his strength and conviction from a belief in God. Our very government is founded on the declaration that we are all born free and that our freedom is not granted by the government but by the Great Creator. Is is a uniquely American philosophical distinction that elevates our constitution to being the highest expression of man's universal claim to freedom ever produced. I don't see a problem here. I suspect the author is a fraud. He is at least a traitor to his religion.

Romney is the genuine article

Typical holier-than-Mormons smarmy posting. Shock horror, there's Mormon's
supporting Romney like there are weirdoes in Hollywood supporting Hillary. Is it
somehow more noble for Bush to get his money from Evangelicals?

Rather than deride Romney for making his personal millions the honest way
(building companies) and getting support from real supporters ($2,000 at a time
from private citizens) you should be trashing Hillary for tapping into labor
unions that export dues from their members and trial lawyers that leech our
economy with their trash litigation.

Visit http://www.romneyvoters.com to learn
about why Romney is the real deal that wants to make a positive difference for
the country (rather than some carpet bagger career politician).

RE: Another Liberal Anti-Mormon Liar!

This person's post is so full of bull****, lies, and distortion of facts!

Clearly, they are out of touch with reality, and need to see a doctor before the brain damage gets too severe!

Mitt Romney is the REAL DEAL! And everyone that has worked with him knows that - and he has NEVER made his personal religion or faith a matter in his politics!

From a former Mormon, Romney FOR Pres.

I am here to say that I was a Mormon for 17 years and even though I am not a Mormon anymore, I will vote for Mitt Romney for President. I do have problems with some teachings, however, the people are awesome. Judge a person for what they have done in office. Has he served the people well? I believe that Mitt has, and will continue to do so as President. And for those of you who have smeared Mitt because of his religion, have you checked out the Masons? A lot of Christians have a problem with them also. Guess what, our first President was a Mason. I think he did a darn good job. This country has a lot to deal with, and I really believe that Mitt Romney is the best qualified to do the job.

The "evidence" is resounding

Obviously this in depth study of inanity should be shouted from the rooftops. I ask only one question, should our Presidents not have wives? You make a commitment to many within your life. If this is your greatest concern or main rational then remember it the next time that you have to keep a secret job conversation from your spouse (BIG assumptions that you A. have a job and B. have a spouse). Remember this thread when you have to agonize over fibbing to your 8 year old daughter (another assumption) about Santa Claus.

In the end suit yourself. I think that the only thing dumber than voting against Romney because he is a Mormon is voting for him because he is a Mormon.

I love it.

Who is afraid of a Political Leader who just might follow GOD? Oh the horrors of it all! That person might "Pray"? Please say no. Let's see, God having a place in making decisions for our God fearing and God loving country.

This post, as all of the posts from this thread is simply closed minded biggotry with no possitive outcome.

Dim witted biggotry. And if you want the truth about Mormons, you go to a Mormon in good standing with their church. Not someone who might have a bone to pick.

I'm heartbroken-Romney dropped out

As a Christian that loves the Lord Jesus Christ--I realize the importance of putting a moral, ethical, and intelligent person in the White House. I am heartbroken that Gov. Romney withdrew from the arena today.

First, let me say - I have known MANY Mormon people in my life. They exibit the epitome of morals, ethics and family values. If all of us were as consciencious about the standards the Mormon community adheres to ... we'd be so much better off. They have a record with closeness of family/children we could only DREAM OF.

While there are many facets of the Mormon religion I don't understand--THIS I do know, they are compassionate, moral people, and they believe in the VALUE OF FAMILY! Who is to say that they won't enter Heaven? Man can speculate and argue...only GOD KNOWS. I'd gladly take my chances with Mormon values, before I'd take my chances with some "televangelist" that purport to KNOW THE WAY to God's Heart...and uses his/her influence to "con" poor people's money.

MY standards for President -- one that would bring back morality and ethics to the United States. I believe Mitt Romney would have done that. I don't believe any of the other candidates can bring that to the table. Their agendas HAVE NOTHING to do with God. Gov. Romney was proud of his religion...how many of the other candidates EVEN purport religion? MITT ROMNEY -- I salute you!!!

We are all TOO quick to point fingers and accuse -- we think MANKIND has the answers...when in truth, ONLY GOD has the final answer. We will be judged for our insolence and intollerance.

We lost a great deal when Gov. Romney conceded today...I would have PROUDLY voted for him. Others may disagree. I did not judge the man because of his religious beliefs. I would have voted for him because his relgious beliefs made him the man I would have voted for.
