The New Age Of Family

not so family

Ha! Yeah, I've thought 'this is ABC FAMILY?' more than once. Learned quickly, just cuz it's named that, doesn't mean it's all appropriate.

Boy, now you've got my curiosity going! What's gonna happen? And you forgot to rank it 1-10. Thumbs up or down? How many stars? ;)

ABC "Family"

Well I'm not real shocked. Even Disney kind of scares me. What passes for good, clean family entertainment would not have flown 20 years ago. So were any of the 'Christians' talking about how homosexuality is OK in the eyes of God? Or what was their take on abortion? Did they say it's in the 'gray area'?

Family Extended

Haven't seen the show (don't think it's aired yet). We've been watchin Harry Potter movies today on ABC Fam and they've pushed this series constantly. So, I went to their web site and read preview of it; doesn't sound like Leave It To Beaver.

Produced by makers of Seventh Heaven which I've never seen, tho S said it was a decent (fairly upright) show.

We'll see.

Great Post

I have a book entitled "Don Wildmon The Man The Networks Love To Hate". It chronicles Wildmon's defense of values against TV in the '70s.

I'm afraid that television does not belong in a home with children in it.

All in the "Family"

I remember that 7th Heaven seemed to be a decent show. I didn't watch it much but it seemed decent. There were definitely issues, but I think they tried to be real about things. Covering issues that come up with raising teenagers. I never really watched much though.

Ken

It's pretty sad that tv comes w/ so many uncomfortable moments. Commercials now are just as bad (and sometimes worse).
Was watchin a cartoon on the Cartoon Network the other day w/ kids and truck commercial comes on and in closin line it says, "our trucks are d*mn tough".
At least it wasn't viagra.

Nest

Yeah, some a these shows are passable, but they seem to reference a pc type god; one of human makin.

Ken

Dude, sorry I haven't been hanging in your (and other TH blogs I've frequented), I've had a string of deaths in my family which has distracted me so I've only been hanging with close friends to be able to keep up with the minimum to still exist.

Stan

Please accept my condolences.

Ken

Ken

((the 'Justin Case') "unspoken words" weren't "understood") Of course I accept (and appreciate) your condolences, Ken.

RecknHavic

Tv Guide channel is particularly offensive. I agree with your "PC god of man's making" assessment too. Many people have the luxury of auditioning gods of their liking. I was finally made desperate enough to pray to the God of my understanding. I have yet to change His mind on anything but not for lack of trying.

I've got a name

so I've got nothing to say.

But because I consider Recknhavic my friend, I want to come up with something to say anyway.

So, hang on a second ... still haven't thought of anything. Hang on ... nothing comes to mind.

That's it!!!! Here's what I have to say. Reck (and Nestor) is a "Know-nothing" (not that Reck and Nestor know nothing, but rather, they are members of the "Know-nothing" movement.)

In The Know

Well..I do know that John Edwards (Stan's fave politician btw) is a liar.

I do know that.

In Stan's Defense...

Edwards is his second favorite politician. Kucinich is his favorite. I think Kucinich is also proof that aliens DO exist. (threw that in for Linda, though it is possible he is actually an alien)

context schmontext

"...aliens DO exist." Glad to see you're comin around, Nestor. ;)

You're Right

How could I forget about Dennis the Kucinich.

ThanX Nestor!

Whilst I really don't need (or want) your help defending me, I do appreciate that you want to.

What should've been ...

if the corporate media (owned by the industrial military complex/congress/media) had stayed out of the election.

My hero Representative Dennis Kucinich vs. Representative Ron Paul (who's district would really be a few short miles from where I live, if it weren't for the high gas prices.)

Whilst I there's reasons to be "Obtamistic" (tm) about Obama, we would be better off as a united standed Country if it were Kucinich vs. Paul at this point.

Reck: my exact thoughts!

Thanks for the post about ABC "Family". My girlfriend was watching that, and I noticed that it was on ABC "Family"??? The show is total trash, and ABC promotes that station as stuff that's suitable for "family" viewing??

Stan's 2nd. favorite politician

> Edwards is his second favorite politician.

Maybe it was (and maybe it wasn't then either. I think for as long as I've known about Wexler, he's probably been my 2nd. favorite) before I found out about his affair. Unfortunately he's been downgraded in my list of favorites because of it. So, WHAT IN THE *HELL* IS THE MEANING OF "it"???? ;-)

Re: context schmontext

Nice catch of Reck's little "red-herring". :-)
