Great post. Litter and Liberalism. Two words that go together well.

SO TRUE!

a) If my family attends, we'll probably drive to the park n ride near Univ of Maryland and take the metro train to Navy Memorial. I'll probably be in cell phone contact with Gunny and maybe Nee (met her at the Gathering of Eagles III there a couple of years ago).

b) The first game that I went to at Texas Stadium was Roger's Cowboys against Namath's Jets (first night game in that stadium). Final score: Roger 52, Joe 10.

c) Staubach was never the extremely high-paid player during his career, but he took what he earned, including a few endorsements, and used his education to develop one of the most powerful commercial real estate businesses in the country. The Texas GOP has been BEGGING him for the past 20+ years to run for Governor.

I have kept up on Roger also. He has a pair that clanks when he walks.

FYI, "Conagher" was made into a pretty good TV movie starring Sam Elliot, and it's on DVD available for rental.

I have that DVD, on of my faves. But the book captures the essence of Conagher in a way that the movie NEVER could. I expect POTUS or FLOTUS to lose their cool in public any day now.

I greatly enjoyed reading. Growing up in the 1950's, I was lucky enough never to have had the PC cartoons for entertainment. Instead, I had Looney Toons, Disney's Crockett (Fess Parker), Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and the Lone Ranger.

"Conagher" is a great Lamour read! So are "The Ferguson Rifle" and "The Haunted Mesa". (BTW, I have a shooting replica of a Ferguson rifle.)

My daughter is having our 4th grandchild during the time of the DC "Get Together". There have been some complications during her pregenancy, so Mrs. Gray Ghost and I will be with her during that entire week (9/10 thru 9/17).

PS: Luckily growing up in Mississippi, I really never ran across Liberal women during my dating period. Most of the women I dated could shoot better than me. Some even knew how to clean a deer. (You know: raise the tail and wipe with toilet paper.)

My Uncle had to forgo his dairy farm in central Nebraska due to the same thing. A whiny liberal who believes they can buy more than they can afford. That dairy farm was built by my great grandpa and has been family owned to this day. My grandparents and uncle and aunt still work on that farm, but had to sell the diary cows.

It didn't take long for liberalism to show how ugly it is in American politics. We have a combination Neville Chamberlain/Jimmy Carter 2.0 in the white house who turns a blind eye to the mid-east and would rather go after opposition that shows the truth about what he really is. His polls are slipping. Obama's just showing everybody how Wrong liberalism is.

We're also seeing how unhinged the libs are. Those libs that post and attack here on townhall are going absolutely nuts, and their defense of Obama is even crazier. I guess the independents and uninformed who voted for Obama are seeing that speaking eloquently with a teleprompter doesn't solve anything.

There had been Senatorial hearings in the 60's and a big stink in the media about how violent cartoons like Bugs Bunny and Popeye were turning us kiddies into a bunch of violence-prone maniacs. And look at the results, you can see these dangerous mobs of boomers going to town hall meetings and daring to disagree with public officials who have only our best interests at heart!

I have a special relationship with Scooby. I started working on that show in the early seventies. I used to hate it. We were paid by the amount of footage we completed and half the scenes had ten characters in them. If you want to learn how to draw accurately and FAST that's the way to do it. Since then the union cracked down on piecework, which unfairly allows those selfish people who work harder to make more money than the poor souls who, through no fault of their own, dont feel like putting out too much effort. So most of the drawing of cartoons was sent overseas.
Since then I've worked on that show from time to time as they've reordered new episodes. I cant keep the model sheets around the house because so many people love Scooby that I end up giving them away and grabbing a new set at the studio. They've started working on a new batch just recently, I'm trying to worm my way onto the crew.

My stepdaughter LOVES Spongebob and the same sort of cartoonish violence in omnipresent in EVERY episode.

abort you georgetwin, life has been so cheapened by the left that heroism so oft associated with conceiving and giving birth to a new life is rarely seen. I've read many a story, where in long past times the mother would sacrifice her own life (obviously well prior to Roe v Wade), knowing full well she would die or stood a better chance of dying than surviving child birth. I wouldn't want to see any mother die in the birth process, however it is noteworthy that few mothers and by extension fathers, would ever knowingly consider making that sacrifice today.

Extremist liberalism as we have today, is the politics of cowards and the morally corrupt.

My grandfather had a dairy farm outside of Green Bay, WI, and I spent many a weekend and summer hauling milk in 5 gal. buckets to the dreaded bulk tank...dreaded because the opening was too high up for a kid with a 5 gal. bucket full of milk LOL. My uncle still lives on the property, but the cows are long gone.

I loved those days...I learned to drive a tractor and bailed hay, ate vegetables raw from the garden, and watched those same cartoons. Never really thought about the transition to the Scooby Doo types, or about them being anti-corporate, but you have a great point.

VERY apt description of "The New Left". When I hear Pat Cadell on Hannity, I am SHOCKED that he was a pioneer of this movement. He RARELY has anything good to say about Liberals.

Loved your stories. I felt especially sad for your dad having to lose his dairy farm. We live on one of three farms that my friends own and they are dairy farmers. Of course their milking house is inspected constantly and the milk is inspected every day.

I also loved the story of you Mom and Dad's courage to have you children with all the problems your Mom had and your Dad yelling at that stupid doc.

Great post and a lot of good stuff to remind us all of what has gradually seeped into our lives.

All my siblings are moderate to left and they wonder what happened to me!! My youngest brother called me a radical many years ago. He should hear me now! I don't talk politics with any of them,though. We would be like the Hatfields & McCoys if I did.

I think it is more of an attitude than a disease. Either way, it NEEDS to be tossed in the landfill of history NOW!

Think about this, the honest hard working American who work daily to follow the laws of the land, trying hard day after day to raise honest U.S. American children. Respect. books, family, friends, games and Salute the U.S.A. flag, all the, what used to be proper things in life are going to hell in this country so all the punk left wing liberial politically correct degenerates can go ahead and destroy this country that WE have fought to keep free. I am sick of watching the Honest Hard Working Americans get screwed by a bunch of communist democrat no good political crooks who are living high on the hog for now, but i tell you this, soon we all have a meeting with Lord Jesus in Heaven and we shall see where the real power lays. Laugh now for you shall mourn and weep. This was once a great country but look what is happining to us. Are there no longer any Americans with backbone? Communist are ripping at our throats. I am crippled with parkinsons disease and other crippling diseases, a Vietnam Era Veteran (Honorable) and Proud, but sick to my stomach for what this country is turning into. It makes me sick to my stomach. I sit here in great pain this morning, but, i cry thinking about the parents who sent their sons and daughters off to battle to keep murderous rapist and thugs from infiltrating this great country, U.S.A. Meany of our troops come back crippled or dead,but it seems the bad guys are already here and each time a Proud U.S. Military person goes down on the field of battle, another communist from hell takes their place while the spineless politicians and rich get richer.
