Unintended Consequences of Gays in the Military

Yes to Gay Soldiers
For probably the first time, I find myself on a different page than Andrew.
I honestly don't think that openly gay folks in the military will create a major issue. Seriously.
I oppose the gay agenda at every turn, from teaching children that it is not only OK but preferable to being straight, to forcing companies to turn a blind eye when Fred decides he wants to wear a dress to work.
But honestly, I don't have a problem working (or showering) alongside gays, and I don't think the average American soldier really cares one way or another if a fellow soldier is gay.
Look to Israel for a good example of gays have no discernible impact on troop morale or effectiveness. They are one of the most tolerant armies in that respect, and nobody can argue that they lack esprit-des-corps or ability to kick the enemies' butt.
Ditto for the British army. Tough sons-o-britches, and no a morale problem when they began encouraging gays to enlist. And in Britain, it is a national sport to make fun of gays. But comedy is one thing, and protecting Queen and country is another. They know the difference.
I think we need to look at every American who wants to serve (and is capable) as a good citizen, and to encourage their participation in the military. While many gays are limp-wristed leftist sissy boys, a good number of them are hard-as-nails (no pun intended) patriots who are ready, willing, and able to defend America. In a firefight what counts is not the sex you prefer to feel, but your fealty to the man next to you.
Openly gay soldiers? Hell yeah. We need good fighting men and women wherever we can find them. God bless them, and we should encourage and praise them for their service.

Clarification
In my above post, I am using the "alternate" spelling of "Bill" which is of course, "Andrew."
I know you knew... just wanted to make sure...
