Big Republican Losses in November?

You're right!

I agree with a lot of what you're saying...too many conservatives, however, seem like they want to jump ship. Now is not the time to jump. If we're serious about advancing a conservative agenda, the time when we must be extremely diligent is during the primary campaigns. This is where we have to do the work to get rid of entrenched "RINOS", and elect true Reagan conservative candidates. BUT...in order to have any success at all, we MUST keep a solid Republican majority while we make these internal adjustments within our party. We need to replace the Arlen Specters, Olympia Snowes and Lincoln Chaffees from the party in due time, but we cannot run the risk of losing our Republican majorities now.

I plan to hold my nose, vote my straight Republican ticket, and work hard for the next TRUE conservative who runs in my district!

You're correct - We can't jump ship!

I'll be holding my nose too, but we have to keep the party there until we can change from within. It will take local efforts by the grassroots base to attract the "Reagan conservatives" that can enact sensible conservative policies. Hopefully, we don't have to lose total control before we can get back to our conservative roots.

In Illinois, we have a fairly liberal Republican running for Governor and that is alienating a lot of the vote, especially in the central and southern rural areas of the state. While I don't agree with Judy Baar Topinka on social issues, she is fiscally conservative and would be much better for the state than Blagojevich.

The problem is there are a lot of Republicans who refuse to vote for her because of the social issues like abortion. They would be willing to not show up on Nov. 7th and let the state continue under a Governor who has driven businesses out of Illinois because of one single social issue they disagree with.

We have to take baby steps to bring about a restoration of conservative ideals and policies within the Party. You are right on target, we need to work locally to support true conservatives that emerge in our districts.
