I read
your post over at Matt Lewis' blog. I have traveled to Europe yearly and lived there for several years.
I have not encountered negativity or hatred such is the myth perpetuated by the MSM. Does Euorpe see us as you stated...only those who are not informed or those who don't go beyond the BBC or Skye news.
Do Americans know little of Europe/or Russia in general-absolutely. Our schools are doing the kids no favors by teaching things to be politically correct. My children have had two US history classes and both are sorely lacking in knowledge of the things I learned in school and college.
Does Europe have a hands-off attitude- you bet and I find this particularly sad as these countries have much to offer. Their lack of diligence in protecting the rich history adn cultures may one day result in a new muslim nation.
I don't believe that The President is solely responsible for fixing the perceptions of Europe. That would stifle the freedom of the press, which is as much an enemy to the US as a terroist. Again, my opinion. The other sad thing is that when Europe loses itself, who will they blame? You can't keep your head in the sand and expect things to change. They need to start participating instead of hiding. That is the only way perceptions will change. European countries suffer from government protectionism and that does not bode well for moving forward. I find it ammusing that it is always the US who is expected to change or assmilate it's policies to the needs of others. If we did that back in WW2 then this would be Europe. Thank God, we are not speaking German. We set the standard all the time. It really is time for Europe to wake up.
