Blurring the Lines

While limited interaction of government is certainly desirable, we have put the government in charge of right vs. wrong. A tag line from the left says, “You can’t legislate morality”, when in fact we do and must. Murder, Stealing, Lying (perjury), etc. are all moral issues which carry both a social and spiritual consequence. We can all choose to do whatever we wish- we can lie, cheat & steal but there will be consequences. A law does not prevent you from making a choice, it provides a consequence for makng a choice that hurts others.

It is irrational to provide an avenue to accommodate a morally wrong issue because people choose to have sex out of marriage and it puts them out to have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Enabling people to continuously skirt responsibilities by saying, “they are going to do it anyways, so we need to give them a place / way to do it”, is not a solution. I doubt that excusing poor behavior has ever cultivated any man of great character.

Look at the condition of our families / society with the current “legal” things such as Abortion (nice word for murder). Gay Marriage /Homosexuality (sin). Divorce (sin). When we start permitting these things as acceptable, creating legal loop holes for personal responsibility, we give a foothold to future moral decline. When we selectively pick and choose which of God’s laws to follow based on expediency, we begin to blur the lines of right and wrong.
