I used to be a Methodist
I was raised in the church, got my God & Country merit badge from the Boy Scouts, was an altar boy, and generally went to church every Sunday. Till one day, about 15 years ago when, at Easter service, the minister explained that the miracles of the resurection and the virgin birth are not necessary for the faith to be true. He said "You can take them as parables if you want. You don't have to believe in them. In fact, I don't."
Gahhhhh. I got up and walked out and never returned. This was a religion that was old fashioned Calvinist! This is a religion that forbade dancing or playing cards! Now the ordained minister is telling me that Jesus was not divine, but rather he was some kind of good teacher and con man.
I did not leave my church. My church stopped being one.

There are more Christian denominations that are true to their Evangelical roots:
Lutherans in both the Missouri and Wisconsin (WELS)synods are true to Martin Luther's Reformation of the 16th century. Check out a conservative Lutheran church in your area. You will find true believers of Jesus Christ, who don't treat the Resurrection as a parable.

Crazy, isn't it?
The left likes to play word games. They give words meaning they don't have (e.g. the word "is"), and try to cover hideous things with good sounding words or slogans (pro-choice for abortion). Unfortunately, by and large, we let them. Thanks for taking a stand, Flag.
