Dear Sacramento: About That Budget Problem You're Having...

Lenny Bruce time...

Lenny Bruce had a routine where he went overtime at a pay phone and the operator broke in and demanded more money. He replied, "Oh yeah! Well your not getting it!"

They can raise tax rates all they like but the suckers are tapped out. The morons who vote Democratic every year because its the default setting in their tiny little brains will wake up the day this state defaults on its bonds...you know, like the $3 billion that the electorate voted for stem cell research. Even with the state budget collapsing 11 billion dollars worth of new bonds were authorized in the last election. We also were blessed with a legislature that makes the current US Congress look like green-eyeshade moderates. But the bank is busted.Chaos to follow.

When Grey Davis looks like a GOOD alternative, the shite has definitely hit the fan.

New Post at My Place!

Skep and Twin:

Candidates announced for the governor's race include Steve Poizner, Meg Whitman, and Tom Campbell - all fiscal conservatives and social moderates. Any of the three would be good, but I'm a big Tom McClintock guy, and I hope to see him run; he's much closer to a solid overall conservative.

Of course, on the other side of the coin, we're seeing John Garamendi, who I see as one of the most destructive forces in California from a business standpoint, Gavin Newsom, and potentially even Jerry Brown and Dianne Feinstein looking at the race.

But Gray Davis notwithstanding, don't look just at the governor's race - the legislature is every bit as complicit, and every bit as important. Make no mistake, one more term of tax increases and anti-business policies will lead to an increase of the flight from California. It's an open secret that, were it not for illegal immigration from Mexico, California's population would actually be seeing an overall net decrease as the more and more productive people, entrepreneurs and business owners, leave for more fiscally responsible destinations.

Skep, that's where your "You're not getting it" quote comes into play. Sacramento won't be getting it because the people leaving will be taking their money with them. Think about it - wouldn't you?

Watch for my next offering: California's latest pop culture icon will be skewered as a poster child for a much-needed government reform.

sadly, your little vignette is playing out all around the country. And while I haven't done a headcount, it seems to be occurring in mostly blue (or is it bleu?) states. And what are they proposing? "New Revenue Streams" like casinos (in my state), higher fuel taxes, higher cigarette taxes, or just higher taxes, period. To pay for services used by people who shouldn't be here. The question is, where do we go when all of our states are in basically the same boat, along with the federal government?

Gonna get ugly.

Time for another Boston Tea Party...

Super

Living in CA, it is nice to see this entire fiasco playing out all over the news. Saw them all locked up over the weekend. Adn some images of them sleeping.

Yes, remember Gray Davis and his car tax. Hello, they want it again.

I see that some real super people want to run for Governor. Don't forget the mayor of LA. He keeps saying no, but since he is such a media fool, he will run. I am glad I live in the OC and not LA County. At least I am far enough away from Pelosi's cooties!

Perfectly clear and logical

take on California and their budget over the moon problems;them and our new Narcissist King are so totally out of touch with reality, they'll never see or hear the truth of the matter. They're too full of their grandiose selves. The only way they're ever going to listen to anything reasonable is if we knock them in their brick for brains heads with 2X4's. We'd better start gathering wood while there's still time. Our window of opportunity is small and shrinking every day.

Good work Keith.

And CA used to be such a great place to visit, 'course that was some years back.

Great post and will be watching for your next one.

great blog. It seems most states are running in that direction (or at least many people are, which is part of this mess's cause).

What part of "cut spending, lower taxes" are people not comprehending? It's proven to work, so why aren't we doing it???

Complete and total insanity...
