Nicely done, BMU

You 'bout covered it. It just proves that anyone who BELIEVES the army of scoundrels now occupying the Capitol and the White House is the very definition of "the sucker born every minute" that P.T.Barnum talked about. The "word of the day" for the next four years is DISTRUST.

Shame you can't post that picture of Obama's Omama!

LOL, Garnet

I think that pic would definitely get me in trouble with TH censors.
How can they be trusted? They are up there lying with impunity. They have no cover, but they still lie. Their lies are exposed but they still lie. Did you see Shep Smith on Fox laying this out? He was dead on with it and he was mad. Thaddeus McCotter R-MI laid it out on the House Floor. Watching them tell the truth about these clowns is a breath of fresh air.

I'm really hoping

Gaithner goes down. Dodd may be teflon along with Frank, but these guys have GOT to start being held accountable...good post Bob's Nephew.

While I agree and appreciate your thrust

and the way you laid it all out, Bob's Nephew, let me reposition your assessment of the AIG bonus recipients. The nation's investment banks, its trading markets, even those who insure them (like AIG) reward and punish performance and results among their professionals.

Those at AIG who performed badly or merely underperformed are GONE. If not for the bonus recipients, AIG's losses would surely have been much worse.

The federal government chose to "rescue" AIG, because, they say, the nation could not afford to lose it. Now the federal government -- as you know, the REAL culprit in all of this mess -- is trying to destroy the best people that AIG has. Is that gonna HELP AIG?

If this passes the Senate, Wall Street, investment banking, New York City, and New York State will all be destroyed. And the nation will fall behind France and Canada. Just like that.

Anger...

'Feigned Outrage' is what we saw these pols display this past week. Michelle Malkin had it right, she described it as theatrical.

One thought I've had about this AIG mess, it is a diversion, so that citizens will not be paying attention to the passing of HR 1388...one scary piece of legislation that many know nothing about.

Good Post, BMU.

God Bless.

well said

I wonder, when the next screwup by Obama and his crew occurs, will he campaign onto the late show this time?

They should realize this would not have happened if they didn't bail them out in the first place. For some reason we conservatives were right the whole time, only to be ignored and have this fiasco happen. I'd wish the politicians who were elected by the people would listen to the people.

BMU

Excellent layiing out of the situation and Constitutional issue(s).

Now I wonder, will any Rep or Senator stand up for the Constitution in all this mess, or merely reposition themseves to satisfy their special interest groups?

Thanx again for this post, BMU.

I (me & my fam) recently...

....had to suffer a dramatic temporary pay cut. Even though the division of my company where I work was actually doing well. Making our numbers and then some. I felt it was an unfair, knee-jerk reaction by management. Those that perform should be rewarded. Or at least not have to suffer w/the rest. The gov't should have nothing to say about it.
That is what aig gets for taking the gov't $ in the first place. As if they really had a choice. I'm one who believes that if the gov't had not bailed these companies out, well somehow things would have worked out. And much better than they are now. DD

Well Informed Post

I sent this to my congressmen today:

I'm not disappointed that AIG, or any private business give employee (congressionally preapproved) bonuses. However, I'm dumbfounded by a government that recklessly parcels out billions to failing companies.

Had AIG or any other failing entity not been rewarded for mismanagement with billions of tax dollars, bonuses wouldn't be an issue because the company would be insolvent; as it should be. And if there had been no congressional pressure forcing banks to make bad housing loans, we probably wouldn't be in this financial debacle to begin with.

Not one penny should be given to any private enterprise, regardless of consequences. How about you stop being part of the problem. Give the system a chance to work. STOP your meddling. No more bailouts.

Thanks Dave,

But if Geitner goes down, which other inept boob will take his place and continue with the same idiotic policies? Just watched Rangel on FNS a while ago and he's just as arrogant as ever. TAXCHEATS one and all.

drpete, I understand

your position on this. Your intelligence on this subject is going to be much better than mine since your son is on Wall Street. I hope you will write a post about this, and give us the skinny from his perspective as well as yours. Thanks.

Jennifer,

These guys are a bunch of wanna-be magicians. They are trying to fool our eyes, "Look over there, (AIG bonuses), not over here (Congressional malfeasance)" Who keeps electing these slugs? Oh, yeah, we do. CRAP!

Eric, thanks for coming by

I wish the pols would listen to the RIGHT people. Unfortunately, the uninformed, ignorant, Jay-walk, Hopey-Changey people have outvoted us. The pols are listening to THEM right now, trying to deliver the Hope and the Change (whatever that means). We have got to turn this around in 2010.

Mrs. AL,

If you get a chance look at this video of Thaddeus McCotter R-MI on the House Floor. http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/196888.php
He skewers the Dems and 3 Senate Republicans for voting for "protecting these bonuses". Mr. McCotter is a freaking hero to me right now.

Hey DD

Thanks for commenting on my post. I'm really sorry about your recent paycut. I hope it's only temporary. I've got a step-brother in your neighborhood who's lost two jobs last year, and his wife lost her's too. Times are bad, so should people be getting bonuses, especially if taxpayer $ is involved? Probably not. My point here is that these bonuses have been turned into a political football and they're running the old "mis-direction play".

Hello INTHE NOW

"Too big to fail" is what they all said. Hell, the entire US economy is not too big to fail. Better to let these big companies go Chapter 11 and reorganize than drag down the entire economy with them.

More that bills of attainder at stake

I fear that is only the camel's nose. It looks like the left has decided to dispense with the courts altogether.

Saltwater, that is a chilling thought!

The courts have always been their favorite way to advance the leftist agenda. Perhaps, now they don't need them.

Bob's Nephew

It is a chilling thought, and the subject of my latest post. I am begining to realize that once a tool the left used to advance their agenda, the courts are the now only inpediment remaining in their march toward sociaist domination.

Want more about HR 1388?

Check it out here. It passed the House and the Senate has agreed to consider it.

Okay, lets see, Geithner (Wall Street guy) writes the original outline for AIG bailout. move along throwing money at it. Next up the stimulus has 30 seconds to be passed. It passes and the President signs it into law. We have to. We are going to eplode if we don't.

Oh my gosh, the horror of it all, there is this spooky scary amendment in the bill. You know the bill that no one read, oh that one. It lets the evil people keep their bonuses. Oh my! So, what should be do? Point fingers, deny, deny and deny some more! Lets create this fake outrage and in the process creat a mob mentality! And then lets get the lame idea to tax the heck out of the bonuses! Right on! Fantastic.

And lets not have anyone call out the people in Congress who voted for it and the President who signed it into law. They have no one to blame, but themselves.

BMU

Hey!my question is what happened to all those who wanted him to resign?

Don't forget

Geithner, while still at The Fed, wrote the guidelines for the first bailout of AIG, including their bonus policy guidelines.

Sue, SK, Craw

Thanks for the comments. Yesterday, the GM CEO "resigned", effectively handing the reigns over to Barack Hussein Obama. GM is now Government Motors. Expect crappy cars from them until there is GM no more. If I am able to buy a new car in the future, I'm going to buy a Ford, unless, of course, they fall to Government Central Planning in the Politburo. Banks and Automobile Mfg's are now owned by the government. WTH!
It is impossible to keep up with all of the socialist changes going on. If there is no stopping this rampage, we are doomed.

BMU

I see now they are starting to pick at his package for leaving. I think the board is going to vote on it and hopes to decrease the $20 million. Wasn't he another one working for a $1? I also see that a few years ago, his stock was worth $10 million, not it is worth about $260K.

Oh yipee - here comes the Obamamobile.

Wait, doesn't GM make the cars that he drives around in? What now, a Yugo?

BMU

(new post up) and guess who I am in debate with!!
