As far as I know, the exact reasons he did what he did has never been revealed. Yes, he was obviously hiding something, and , call it partisan, but with elections coming up I think it is important to remind voters of the shortcomings of the previous administration. Those who do not study the past... reelect Democrats!

...but I think the time for this has past us by. Now it just looks like a desperate election year ploy to turn the topic back to national security (which it is - but that is besides the point). If the Justice Department has found something, let's talk about that...Congressional investigations at this point would be viewed as being political. And I think it would backfire a lot like the Clinton impeachment hearings did...
